It depends upon the carburetor. If it is a carb on a gasoline engine, it will work fine. If it is a carburetor on a glow engine, it does not work so well. That is because gasoline carburetors have built-in regulators that effectively shut off the fuel when the engine is stopped. A glow engine carb, otoh, will allow fuel to flow. So when you are fueling, a lot of fuel will get forced into the engine, flooding it. You can pinch off the line to the carb when fueling.
