Does not make a difference.......
But for most applications I seem to set mine up with the center port feeding the engine. Just seems to work out right that way. On my test bench the long end is fed to the engine. Does not seem to make a difference for me. Some have noted a difference in performance and chose to go with the center feed to the engine.
You can re-orient the needle if needed - install it from the other side of the housing to provide a convenient placement if you desire.
