I'm with you on your comments; one thing you can also do is after all the repairs (again!), remove as much of the old paint as you can, and then re-paint it red again, you can a "brand-new" plane
fwiw a good power upgrade is the GWS dual IPS drive on 9x7, a whole lot more power; flight times will be shorter, but if you go with NiMh or even LiPoly, it will help alot.
