Smartech use the fg 18mm square as do mcd, carson, harm, duratrax and the rest of the fg clones, . to run hpi wheels you need adapters...i'm using ramtech ones with a 9mm square behind them to correct the offset .you then have to grind the axle flats out more toward the threads to get the grub screws to cinch down. Without the 9mm square the overall width is reduced by 18mm with the adapters which i find too narrow.
i think ams make adapters from fg to hpi too but have the same negative offset.
