RE: "and now for the rest of the story"
I did not know that Paul Harvey had an interest in R/C!
I did know that Paul had somthing of an aviation background. I remember reading an "I Learned About Flying" epesode in Flying in the late 40's or early 50's that involved a Stinson Voyger, but I don't remember the specifics though.
He was in the Army Air Corps from Dec-1943 to Mar-1944. Reportedly, he stole an airplane and was discharged from the Army Air Corps on Section 8 charges.
I also remember that he made a personal request on his program sometime in the 1980's saying that he was looking for a wheel for a Curtiss Robin. If it was for an airplane he owned though, I do not know.
Lastly (although I won't personally consider it in the same catagory as truely flying), he did a tandem parachute jump out here in California, again sometime in the 1980's I think.
Paul was truely one of a kind, and absolutely the finest salesman I have ever heard. I didn't agree with much of his editorializing in his later years, but for style, he was without equal.
Godspeed, Paul!
