Default RE: Tailwheel Help!

Well, the spring ones like the semi scale put less strain on the servo, the springs give if the tail wheel hits something, so it won't jar the geartrain and break servos. I use these style only, had a few rudder servos die from tailwheels hitting dips in the grass while turning on final after the rollout. The easiest way to make a solid mount for any of them is to line it up on the bottom, and make a mark 1/4" ahead of the tailwheel bracket, break out the exacto, hobby saw or utility knife and cut the balsa bottom sheeting away at a depth of 1/8 ", setup a new piece to replace it out of aircraft ply 1/8" variety, predrill the holes and install the blind nuts and glue this back in the section cut away, now just sand the edges to shape with masking tape protecting the existing covering and recover the plate with covering and bolt it down. In your setup, the wire attaches with a strap on the bottom, on most of those setups, they imbed the wire inside the LE of the rudder post. So in your case, just restrap it to the bottom, CHECK YOUR CG! and go have fun.
