RE: ROAD TRIPS: 2009
It's been four years (June, 2005) and there's really nothing not to like about retirement.
I've signed up for warbirds over Delaware and also Fondulac and Muncie.
I'll be going to some 'locals' also as Blacksheep warbird flyin in Danville, IN looks like a good show, plus Lexington and a few others around my area. We've got our IMAAlegal flyin this Saturday at GCRCC field.
Ilimit my travel to 600 miles so no Florida or Rockies trips or bomber field (but it would be nice to attend those).
For me, every flyin has to be within one days travel.
Today, I worked on my C-45 Beechcraft G-38's:
One engine has lost some of its compression (only about 6000 versus the usual 6700)and the other engine is vibrating.
Icould have them rebuilt but they are old so Ijust ordered two new ones.
At $310 each, they are cheap and why risk losing a plane.
One flap was also vibrating so the digitals were replaced with HS-645's.
The rebuilt 3W-75 was put back into the yellow Texan and a test run looks good.
Tomorrow, I'll be working on the Robart P-47 (also has a 3W-75) and see if Ican finally get a maiden on her, this week.
