Elven when my belt started looking like your first photo on my Fusion I would change it. The belts never snapped on me but I was concerned they may have been slipping. Yes I did have to replace them often but during that time I was racing the hell out of my Fusions too!! I just have a wait see attitude ABOUT THE BELTS DURABILITY on a offroad car without a cover.
