IF you ABSOLUTELY must teach yourself.. (which I did) get a two meter glider, practice flying towards you, and landing..
Buy a simulator. I never had that option..but it would have helped!
Oh yeah enjoying building and rebuilding is a help teaching yourself.. (which I also did!)
