Don't think of "max amps" for maximum amp draw (I mean, how could that be misunderstood!!
). The "max amps" rating is a measure of amp draw when output peaks in efficiency. I have a 9L that I've measured over 160 amps on due to it being propped at a level that was just a wee little bit less than ideal!! Fortunately I didn't smoke my 125A Suppo controller but that did explain why it was 180F after a short test run.
