Regarding the eyes (bug eyed look): ......paint the white of the eye first; then the iris color; then take the flesh tone color and with a fine tipped brush paint over the top 1/3 to 1/2 of the white area including the iris. Too much and the pilot looks a little sleepy, but usually still looks very realistic.
Or if you aren't a good RC pilot yourself; the bug eyed look might be appropriate!
