RE: TFGE F4U Corsair 60 Kit Build
Gents,
Put the fuse paint job on hold, just for a little while; I've been working on the main gear forward doors and boy did I ever have a time getting them right. What I did was to use a CA hinge on the fwd section of the door and using CA to secure the hinge in place, make sure to lightly sand to allow for a good bond. I did that on both the stationary fiberglass pannels and the doors. The next step which was a little more difficult; I have some 1/32nd thick X 12 X 1 brass plate. I took my metal sheers and cut two 1/4 wide X 4" long and then worked the plate into shape around my landing gear strut. Now to secure the brass plate I used a small piece of 1/4 X 1/4 bass wood cut to fit then I drilled a 11/64 hole through the brass and basswood; I used a 5/32 allen screw and nut to secure the brass to the basswood, of course then I used some CA to secure the unit to the entire structure. Here are a few pics of my progress on the fwd doors.
