I will be in Arizona but without my Skymaster F-18 just can't finish it in time. A few other guys from Vegas will be their as well. (Edf) Electric Ducted Fans are given air time at 8:00 am due to the noise restriction in the area. After that kick the tires and light the fires turbines all day long. This in my opinion is one of the best rallies in the country. A great pilot turnout and plenty of spectators. Last year it was windy on Saturday and Sunday but hopefully not this time. On Sunday around noon the awards will be given out. Your dates are correct see ya in Arizona.

Not that anyone cares, but I'll be there this year, just to sniff the kero and get motivated to put my Eurosport together.

I will be there not that anyone most likely cares either.

I would like to know if anyone from central Utah is planning to attend and is willing to cart an airplane that I would like to get my hands on. The seller is not in the mood to ship it and so I thought I would throw this request out there just in case.

If you are intimidated by the expense and time it took to build your plane build a more expensive one!!

Thanks for the compliment on the paint scheme however I can't take the credit since I didn't do it. I am not sure of the name of the painter since I know for sure that I am the 3rd owner of this plane. I do thank the builder and painter since this is one great plane to fly. The only mod to the outside I have done is I added a cockpit kit. By the way the person in the photo is one of the previous owners and might have been the builder.
Thanks again,
George

Glad you like the paint scheme. I did it about 3 years ago and I think the plane has been sold 4 of 5 times. it was my first solo paint job and a real trick to get all those lines using amateur techniques. Hope you enjoy the plane!

Turbulence,

Maybe an oxygen mask that feeds kero vapors?

You're probably up on all the Antelope Valley people and those from surrounding areas. I consider Thud_Driver to be a local, and he's flown over 500 sorties this year on his Top Cat and now a Kangaroo. John Redman's busy at JetCat, of course. Not sure what Ad Clark is up to, but Thud_Driver was supposed to meet him at the Tailwinds field today for some flying. Haven't seen Hot Wheels in a long time. He's still flying, but turbines are out of his league, and df is so yesterday by comparison.

The big thing to me is this: it's going to be weird not seeing Rich Fong and Snoopy around.

Last year's AZ Jets convinced me to get into turbines. Now I need to get the thing into the air. I'll expain more in Mesa.

See ya there!

David

Just back from day one of the AZ jet rally, it was an awsome day, 75 degrees, a cool breeze, the wind right down the run way and a line up of some cool jets. Besides all the regular stuff, there was a ducted fan Tornado swept wing that was very nice, a nice panther, and a few other jets of the not so often seen type. Of that variety, I had my SU 27 out fitted with twin AMT Mercury's and headed for its third flight. Thanks to Nick for hustling with me all day ( in photos next to me I'm wearing yellow cap) Check out the photos, Vin and I were at the stick, (it is so smooth , I gave the stick to Vin Difabbio cause I just could not believe how well it flew) This plane has been in my Garage for 3 years and if I would have known how well it flys I would have built it years ago. The flight was great and the approach was right on, unfortunatly I did not have breaks enough to stop it before it went into the end runway fence and did some damage. Check out photos, what do you think???

Kevin Marks

PS. from next thread, if it is "Mark" who ran out of run way, Ralph did you mean Me???

Just arried today and did not make it to the field in time. Here is the low down that I heard about. Scratch built jet, I think his name is Thompson (spelling?) totaled, One hot spot totaled, but have no details, Mark ran out of the field (breaks), Dougie Fresh flame out with his yellow F-16 causing some minor damage, Worst (in my book) Sadlly the Titan powered Supa Hornet suffered a lock out. Second time I go to an event and I do not get to see it fly, The plane has flown way too many times, but this would have been the first event with the new engine and see how it flies with more power. Hoping there is another here, but I won't now till tomorrow. I actually brought my Camera to take lot's of pictures, so if there is any special request, let me know.

Total bummer on Tam's plane, Rob said it was awesome with a P-120, built like a tank. I hope he at least got a flight or 2 with the Titan.

I am really loosing any confidence I had left in these radios, and with some of the weird reports I heard about Heart of Ohio...well I don't know what to think anymore:-(

Matt, well new place for the hornet to fly in today, but it had I am guessing over 50 flights with that radio and the P-120. we all use the same thing, Futaba, JR, Ford, Chevy all the same thing. We know how it goes.

Matt,
We just got back from all night party. With some strong drink it help me get over my lost this early morning.
$hit happen. I expect this coming soon or later. Look on the bright side. I had this proto type Super Hornet completely works out all the bugs and pushing her beyong highest G manuver for any R/C Jet model can handle. We can't break this plane when we do all the high G testing. Mother nature always have her secret way to do it. At least I don't feel bad about it. No one get hurt. Thanks God.
My buddy have few photos when the plane went nose in. If you look at the crash site. You can tell how strong this plane is.
The wings, stabs, and fins survive the crash.
At the time this Super Hornet went in had fully loaded with fuel and smoke. Imagine how much weight when it go down.
John Redmen check the ECU. It read 4.5 second of failsafe. But this only register before the plane hit the ground. So the lock could be much more.
At least my new improve Viper Jet log in 4 flight today. Knock on wood nothing happen to it tomorrow.
Brg,
Tam
