Has anyone built one ? China Model

Just received it today...Looks good..But I have not looked at everything close. They call for .25- .32 2 stroke engines....10-6 props with a 3 1/2 " Spinner. If someone is building one I would like to trade ideas!! Weight 5000g - 5200g what is the conversion to pounds.

That works out to a worst-case wing loading of 20.6 oz./sq.ft. Very light, should be a great flyer if the given weight turns out to be anywhere near right.

1286 sq in is a "lot" of wing area for a 73" wingspan plane with a tapered wing. I have a P-38 with 100" wingspan that is only about 1250 squares, & that wing has an 18" cord at the root. A lot of ARFs over state wing area, and understate weight.

Almost finish mine. Looks good and I think the overall quality is pretty good. I put 2 OS .52 engines on it, 'cause I don't think .30 4 stroke will fly it well. But one major problem: the elevators seems to be bend to one side. I don't know how to describe it, but in short, the 2 elevators pieces are not identical. And I still have not come up a way to fix that. So codimasta, maybe you should take a look on that.

Terry, you're right. The wing area can't be 1286. That would make the average chord 17.6 and the aspect ratio about 4.1:1.

Guess we'll just have to see how it turns out.

Lets see, the center cord is 17 1/2" and the tips are broad, not narrow like the P-38.. Unless you can make sense out of Wing Area = 53 dm2. For once I will untilize the engines that they suggested. I presently have 2 OS 52's on my A-26, which is slightly over powered. If the Mosquito doesnt fly well with 2 .32 Two Strokes, then I will put in the OS 52's.
Thanks for all the info, I will keep everyone posted.

Flying the A-26 on Presidents Day.

Just a suggestion, I have been trying different props on an SX32. I tried both MAS and APC and found that the APC 10-5 prop gave a noticeable improvement in performance. Going from a 10-6 to a 10-5 prop on that engine lets it turn 2k more rpms on the prop!

That's more like it. 52 dm2 is roughly 810 sq. in. That would give you a wing loading of about 32.7 if their numbers are right. That is pretty heavy, but flyable if you keep your speed up. An engine out will probably be disastrous though, so be very sure those 32's are reliable before you take her up.

Still in construction, will be using two .32 2stroke for now, no retracts, trying to keep it light as possible.

Flew my A-26 today, it flew like a bullet with two OS 52 Four Strokes, with 11-7 props @
10 k, only the second time out with it.....flew very well at 3/4 & 1/2 throttle. I was very
surprised that it landed fairly slow, I did not use the flaps...

Try this calculator,
http://www.palosrc.com/instructors/cg.htm
Use 23-25% for MAC, & you should be able to get real close.

It flew , and it is a blast. i changed the cg to 3.5" out from the wing joint and 3" back from the leading edge. it flys like a pattern plane from 20 years ago, fast and smoooth. i used os 32sx 10x6 apc , they ran a solid 12k . it came in at 12.75#. with the flaps down it came in nice and slow. well worth the 300$......karl

Karl That is great to hear. How did you like the kit in general? any building snags? Did you use retracts? if so what kind. Thanks Rich

Karl,
Did you use the calculator at palos for the CG, or just "eyeball" it? Curios if the calculator is accurate.

the kit was very simple, i did change the flap bell cranks to one servo in each wheel well. also i changed the tail wheel wire to some 5/32, it makes for better ground handling. i used some old spring airs i had laying around, they work just fine. the calculator turned out to be the same as what a friend came up with, so it did work. i also changed the tires to some sullivan .....karl

Something to watch out...reference Step #12 Fuel Tank.
Note: Round sides are the sides..the flat sides are top & bottom.
The picture shows the Round sides as top & bottom..the tank will not fit into the bulkhead, unless you turn the tank....which places the Flat side as top & bottom.
I hope I am not confusing everyone

Received her and man is this ship sweet! Great looking glass work, wide wing center section, great pre-painted canopy. Typical asian instructions. Thinking about painting the lower half and undersides black as seen on night raiders.
