Default History made with a 35% Extra 300

Two Hacker C50's on a belt drive, two 10S4P for each motor, a custom Prince Airfcraft Prop 30X18 and a custom paint job by a Harley customizer...does it get any better?

Awesome!

I wonder which cost more, the power system or the paint job?

Yes, but you're tethered to a wall socket ... otoh, looks like no one here's hoop-lah-ing over this conversion?!

It's really about 4600 watts. Power system cost more than the paint job Greg . I think it was just over $1000 for the paint job. Just as an FYI, the paint added 5lbs to the plane,..yes, 5 full lbs. As for the power thing,.. 4600 watts is only about 6.1 hp or so, but with the 30X18 prop versus the little 28X12's normally flown on this plane, the actual perfromance is the same as about a 9 or 10 hp gas engine (due to the larger more effifcient prop).

the first day of test flights consisted of three "short" flights to check temperatures at intervals, and was total of 20 minutes with the three flights, on one charge. Judging from the power level I was using at melbourne flying the plane, and the amount that went back into the packs,.. I'd say 18 to 24 minute range depending on how hard you're flying it.

We should fly her again this weekend after we 'tweeked' the belt drive a couple of weeks ago.. I sure do wish Gary lived closer!

Thanks for all the compliments.

That plane looks heavy flying. i think it weighs 35 lbs. and it has 6lbs of paint on it!!!

Dan

I heard this form a friend

But IMO its stupid, Would you rather have that as electric or glow. All that work and you dont get any noise. People put time into things that big and they are electric??? Its dumb IMO

To answer your question......I would much rather have it Electric. I dont understand Glow, but just because I dont understand it, doesnt mean I think it is dumb or not another intersting part of the hobby. Very narrrow thinking IMO.

** and it was 5 lbs of paint...not 6.
