Default How to make BF109G Wheels

Hello all,

I had some spare time on my hands waiting for my retracts so I decided to make a set of scale hub caps for my Meister-Scale BF109

Below is the 5-1/2" wheel from Unitracts or scalewheels.com and a drawing I made using AutoCAD.

Here I took some 1.00 MM thick sheet styrene and attached it to my dremel to sand a perfect circle.

I then taped the plastic circle to the front of my drawing and gently scored the plastic from the back side to give me a good reference for the small spokes.

Here is 2 layers of 1.00 MM thick plastic glued together and rounded on the edge to give me the hub inside of spokes. I then glued it on top of the first disk.

Now the fun part begins... I glued little pieces of 1.00 X 1.50MM strips to create the spokes. By the way... I am using a product called Tenax-7R to glue everything with. You just brush it on and the plastic melts together.

After triming the spokes I simply glued a piece of 1.0 X 2.5 MM plasting around the outer edge.

Here I put some cute little Brass bolt heads and washers I found at the local train shop. I also glued down 2 smaller disks for added detail.

After a few more added plastic details and hand cut plastic bolt heads... WALA!! sorta looks like BF109 Hub Cap...
Stay tuned!! I will be soon making a mold from latex and laying up some fibergass and resin casts.

That is most impressive. If I can learn how to post pics on the new rcu, I'll try to put my 80' 109G2/6 optional parts i'm making from polyurethane resin. Scale flying composite blades, exhaust headers, composite spinner. Also Im working on a dummy DB605. Iv'e seen many radials, why not an inline. Time is limited now however.

Good work

Looks awesome David! What's the chance of getting my hands on the Acad file?
