RE: Sneak Peak at new Hitec servo
Sorry, I don't have a specific release date but it will probably be a couple more months until they are on the shelves.
Yes, I was the chef!
We will most likely offer Ti gears for other servos that will be sold separately at first. Expect to pay at least $30 for the Ti gears. That stuff is not cheap!
Mike.

How WELL at 4.8 volts???
Dear Mike:
The PIPE Here once more...can't WAIT to check out (IN PERSON) the NEW 5995 servo you've got coming soon, at the 2005 WRAMS Show next February...!
Just wondering...how does the new 5995 digital servo perform on a CONVENTIONAL four cell, 4.8V pack??? The packaging gives a MONSTER amount of torque...but at SEVEN volts? I DO know of a LOT of Giant flyers that are running dual NiCad or NiMH packs that MIGHT be using FIVE cell battery packs for JUST the aerodynamic servos with devices like EMS/Jomar's "Eight Channel Glitch Buster" at http://www.emsjomar.com/SearchResult.aspx?CategoryID=4 (about 80% of the way down THAT page) which DOES allow the aerodynamic servos to be powered separately from the receiver with a second, higher capacity pack. I'm STILL fond of using 4.8 volt packs for EVERYTHING I've got, and a NICE new NiMH cell that comes from TNR Technical...the GP 3.3 amp/hr sub-C NiMH cell (PDF spec file on these cells is at http://www.gpina.com/pdf/330sch%20-%20PBR043-01.pdf ), the FIRST NiMH cell I've EVER seen that's rated to be usable down TO 0ºF (-18ºC), and that would be PERFECT for use in COLDER weather (even SKI time flying from the SNOW in the winter!!!) is going to be my MAIN Giant Scale battery pack "building block" for BIG batteries for future WW I and Golden Age RC Giant Scale projects-and it's only US $5.50 per cell from TNR.
With the 5945 servo putting out 153 in-oz. of torque at 4.8 volts, the 5735 "battlebot" servo at 222 in-oz at that voltage, and the 5745 servo hitting the figure of 208 in-oz ALSO at 4.8 volts, what will the figure be for the new TITANIUM geared 5995 operating at 4.8 volts, hmmmmmm??? Can't WAIT to find out!
Yours Sincerely,
The PIPE!

MAMASITA!!! [X(][X(][X(][X(][X(][X(][X(][X(]
Standard sized case? Approximate standard sized?? Reinforced? Giving the 8611 a run for it's money???
Are these expected to replace the need for ganging multiple servos on the rudder in larger a/c?

RE: Sneak Peak at new Hitec servo
Ok... let me clarify a couple things. The 5995TG is actually made for the robot market which is booming in Japan and Korea. These are walking robots that use 20+ servos to operate. The 5995TG is targeted to this market but is not limited to it. The 5995 come set up with 180 degrees of travel so if used in an aircraft it would have to be reprogrammed to have normal end points. The specs are rated at 6V and 7.4V (2 cell Lipo) since this is typically what the robots use. The 4.8V rating is about 270in/oz@ .18sec
Now... We are working on a dedicated R/C version of this servo called the 5955TG which will have the same specs but will include and aluminum center case for improved heat dissipation. This servo will be available soon but we are sure that many of you will not wait and will put the 5995 into aircraft use as soon as it is available.
Yes, this is a "Standard" size servo and will fit into the same mounting holes as the 5945MG for example. Yes it is reinforced as you can see by the brass bushings in the case top picture I posted. The pins are high strength as well not to mention the industry first Titanium gears. This will truly be the most advanced and powerful standard size servo ever produced. This will reduce the amount of servos needed for a giant scale aircraft.
I don't have an exact price at this time but due to the Ti gears the 5995TG will probably be in the $120 price range and the 5955TG with the metal heatsink in the $140 range.
