Crossroads of America Pro Bro Effingham, IL May 1-2
Since it looks like the St.Louis Pro Bro is a bust is there any interest in having a replacement that weekend? I have a place in Effingham, IL where we can have it. Effingham is 1.5 hours East of St. Louis. There is camping on site (it is a campground), there is a restaurant on site for food (good prices). plenty of motels within 15 min. This is not a regular flying site, but there is plenty of room for just about any type of flying. The ground might be a little rough, but they said they would roll us a spot. Let me know what you think. Tom

RE: Replacement Pro Bro?
can you guys pick a weekend that is not an IMAC weekend??
sorry to hear about the problems at the St. Louis fields. I would love to come fly with you guys sometime this summer. maybe if the weather looks bad in one part of the region I will swing down to one of the Pro-Bro events yet this summer.

p.s. looking foward to more indoor flying too

Effingham would be cool! Check on the RV hookups if you can. That would save me a few bucks and anyone else that needed a cheap bed.

Yes there are hook ups. This site is a registered campground. I left the sheets they gave me in the car, but I think it's $15 per night for full hook up. He told me that if you stay 2 nights (Fri-Sat) it will be $25. I have one more thing to check before it is a 100% go, but I'm 99% sure right now. I need a name for this so they can advertise for the locals to come out and watch. Tom

The name of the campground is Percival Springs. The location is off US 45 South of Effingham, 1/2 mile South of the US 45 Il 37 junction. The phone number is 217-536-9990. I will post the best way to get there from the different directions in a few days. Does anyone need me to check on hotel deals? Tom

This is the physical address if you want to do a Mapquest.
Percival Springs Airport & RV Campground.
6900 North US Highway 45, Watson, IL 62473
How far is this from an airport? There is an FAA and AMA restriction of 3 miles for RC flying unless you notify the airport and get their permission. Someone needs to take care of that and make sure we get a green light before we go any further. Otherwise we will be in violation of the FAA and our AMA insurance will not be covered as well.
--------
OK. I called the campground. Problem taken care of they are the airport and the campground in 1 site. It's just a 2000 runway and is used for Ultralights. They are going to let us use the "taxi area" for our event. This sounds awesome. I've got 5+ in my group coming now ... I'll get more!

RE: Replacement Pro Bro?
I talked to the campground Airpark people first before I posted here to make sure it was OK with them. I have known them for a long time. They are good people, and will do all they can to help. This event helps them by bringing people to their place. They are going to advertise locally, and wanted a name for the event. How does "Crossroads of America Pro Bro" sound? Tom
