Easiest way is to hang that receiver up on some kind of mast to get it as high as possible.

I have greatly increased my range on a 50mw system with a patch antenna on the RX. I reduced the multipath interference I was getting with the vertical that came with the system as well. I built my own based on scaled up plans for a Goof Proof Patch antenna. Here is a clip... I am flying an Aerobird.

Try www.polarisusa.com and look at their amplified directional antennas. I am using a big flatplate 18db gain antenna in a backpack with the antenna extended above my head by means of a telescoping luggage handle. I can tilt it up to adjust for height, and turning my body to follow the plane. The difference in range- and picture strength and stability is outrageous! A satellite antenna is similar in that it has a huge amp in it and the incoming signal is very weak.
