Default Finally in the Digital Cam game!

I sent off my Aiptek Mini 1.3 for modification back in November, just got it back. Apparently
Roger is a very busy guy and had to put cam mods on the back burner for a while, it happens!
But, the cam is modded and works great, now I have to fly it, take pics and post them!
Ive carried a 35mm cam up before, this time no waiting on prints to come back!

I used Ogriv's idea about mounting it.

The other thing mounted to the bottom is a drop release mechanism...

I ran into the same problems with vibration that others have, so I cut the engine
prior to taking pics. I remounted the cam to look down the wing.

Nice setup. I dig the NRA sticker.

Whats the servo under the plane for?

How many pics will that cam hold? Does it do short video clips too?

Too many questions?

Its a release mechanism for.....Ive dropped small containers of flour, the original plan was
to drop a wireless camera, be a nice view as it left the plane...
All you have to do is epoxy a quarter inch piece of balsa to whatever you want to carry (and hope the
plane will carry it, hee hee!) Then slide it in between the two on the bottom and activate the servo to mark
the spot with the rod, drill a hole and there you go....

The Pencam will hold alot, I did 35 in three flights, I think it has 16 mb of internal memory.
The video clips Im not even gonna do, Ive seen others try with this cam, they are horrible
at 10 frames per second, 30 fps is normal video.

Never too many questions, thats why we do this, to learn and have fun!

I just ordered a Wingo to carry the Aiptek cam from now on, its more suited to an electric
platform because of the vibration of a glow engine. I had to fly high and kill the engine to
get decent pics on the way down.

If you're looking for an Aiptek / electric platform, consider the SR Cutie! Takes seconds to rubber band the cam under the wing, plenty of space in the fuse for wiring, can easily handle the extra 2 oz., can fly in mild breezes. I got my camera back from Roger last February but just got the Cutie finished. So far I love the setup.

Hello Mike,

I must apologize for the lengthy wait you've endured and I hope you are satisfied with my work. And my apologies for being away from here for so long as well.

Love the 'release mechanism', but dropping flour packets? Or just an excuse for flying while chalking up a baseball diamond?

I hope you have many successful sorties to come!

Regards,
Roger

I understand, unfortunately work comes first. Its what allows us to play camera plane.
I posted my latest pics on your AP ships post. Im very pleased with your work, thank you
for being so thorough in checking it out.

Our club has been doing fun fly target drops with small water balloons from foam cups attached to
the participants' planes, it just gave me the idea. I remember a company called Foremost that
sold a release mechanism years ago, its a close copy to their idea.

As you can see from my posts, Im having a blast!
