Great 5V Li-poly reg for the new 5V xmitters
I received an FMA Sport VRLI 5 volt Li-poly regulator today.
If I went to the new 5 volt video transmitters that Blackwidow AV has,
this would be perfect, it has a 3 very bright LED meter on the tiny board.
So you guys that just got the new transmitters, you can use your Li-poly
packs to power your system loong time!!
I got mine from Tower Hobbies for $18.99, but you can get it from FMA Direct.

I bought one a few weeks ago as part of the 1020mAh gas pack that FMA sells. Havent had a chance to use it yet other than bench testing but its looking good so far!
I think I went overkill with the Li-Poly pack tho. Might test that with my Wingo when it arrives and my Slow Stick.
I just wish the Santa Anas would stop!
Or the USFS would open The Rock back up for slope soaring...[:@]

Thats what I use. Works great. I get 45 minutes before the yellow LED comes on. I'm using a 700mAh LiPo powering a 800mw transmitter and camera. I never did time it until the red LED comes on.
Anyway 45 minutes is longer than I can get anyone to watch unless I offer free beer. [sm=wink.gif]

Fubar, just wondering are you going to beef up the power on the Wingo or do any other mods for the payload.

1) The single best (and cheapest) upgrade you can do to the Wingo is pick up the geardrive recommend by Hobby Lobby. It is very well matched to the airframe.
2) Run two strips of tape on the underside of the wing from wingtip to wingtip to help stiffen the wing a little bit.
3) reinforce the channel in which the wing pylon stick rests. The stick will quickly gouge into the bottom of the wing and change the wing incident unless you protect the foam where the stick rests.

Will probably go for the gear drive as Bill suggests for a starter although if I were to scavenge my Zagi 400X that I havent flown in some time, there is a cobalt motor on that. Thinking LiPo for power. The rest will have to wait till I get my hands on it and have a chance to check it out. My father has one of the older ones that used a wooden tail boom and no plastic bra. This one is supposed to have an aluminum boom and the plasic bra. I also plan to carry one of those aiptec 1.3 meg digital cams on it from time to time so I have to factor that in also.
I think I will want pan & tilt capabilities or at least be able to pan OR tilt so that is another factor.
The keyword for this bird will be: Modular.
Gotta get my hot little hands on the sucker first!
