About 500$...

Why would you need that kind of range...? You can't control your plane safely that far anyway...

200 mW and a proper antenna should be enough for most of our applications...

I agree there's no need for such a range, but it's not that difficult to inderstand that a system with a higer range will have a better signal at close range, so better video quality, especially when antennas are not oriented the best way.

Typically, through the various in flight videos posted here, I've seen many where signal quality decreases as the aricraft attitude changes, probably due to antennas orientation...

Don't u think so ?

I would have to believe that the 3-6 klic range is a bit optimistic. Based on my past experience of range expectations, you get about a 1/3 useable of what is stated. Some don't even do that well due to all the reasons you stated (e.g. antenna orientation, power, etc.). I would have to imagine that at 2 watts power, the battery usage would be right on up there too.

Just my 2 American cents

the range is not 3/6 of a kilometer, it is 3 up to 6 kilometers range, so i think 3 miles would do good, since most radios are under that range

Sure you prolly won't get any blanks when flying at close range with this thing!

Needs a big plane though... 170 grams for the transmitter... plus camera, plus a big 'ol battery... You won't be putting that thing in a foamy...

They've got a 4 watt transmitter too... about 625$... now there's range for ya...hehe

Not true, Rudeboy!

A foam ZagNutz will fly up to 2lbs (OK, maybe a kilo) no problem.

OK, if one really wanted to one could build a foamy to carry 10 lbs, no sweat... but that's not what I meant, and I think you know that...
