The onboard transmitter I use is 2.4 Ghz. It has 4 channels. That is you can switch between any of four frequencies. The only requirement as far as I know in Australia is the power output.
Have a look at

Seems like 10mw is the max allowed in australia.

I have used 10mw TX and it is adequate, not brilliant.

I am still experimenting!!!

Regards

Michael,

The one I used was a tiny 9volt powered camera with a 10 mw transmitter. I could fly a normal circuit around our field and get only a few "dropouts". The small camera was not very good so the video just acceptable. certainly not as good as a normal handheld video camera.
I have just started to use a larger camera amd hope to get much better pictures. If you are using it on a helicopter then I am sure you will have plenty of range.
I will find the old (small) camera and TX and post a few pictures. I had it on a small electric model as it only weighed a few ounces. The largest part was the 9volt battery.

Here are the cameras.
I have not used the larger one yet. You need a good sized model to carry the 12volt pack.
I will let you know how it goes
