Default A good aerial video kit

Hi guys!

I want to fit a video system to my plane, and after thinking of a DIY kit, time convinced me it's cheaper if you just buy one.
I've found this, and I wanted to know if was a good thing or a rip-off:

- Audio and video transmission.
- The camera runs on a 9V batt.
- Receiver comes with a TV or video conection (you just have to plug the wire).
- Resolution: 380 lines.
- Weight of onboard stuff: 90g
- Emission freq.: 900-1200MHz.
- Min. illumination: 3 lux.
- Cam consum: 50mW.
- Receiver consum: 200mW.
- Cam power supply: 8V 200mA
- receiver power supply: 9V 500mA
- Range: +-200m
- The antenna is 5cm long (if this matters for some reason).
- The cam has a manual focus, and then it allows you to see clearly from a few inches to the infinite (like those cheap phto cameras, I guess).
What's your advice, should I buy this or are better things available? Is 380 lines a good resolution?

Thanks in advance!

I saw the review at "Aerotec", a spanish air RC magazine, and the web is [link=http://www.vegamodel.com]here.[/link]
I've heard about www.microwireless.net "Micro Cam 2", and it seems to me it's a better choice over the one I've seen; if you compare them, mine has a lower power draw (50mA), and a 900-1200GHz freq, versus the lower illumination requierements of the Micro Cam 2 (1 lux, while the other one is 3 lux) and lower onboard weight.
However, the receiver has more options (4 channels), so I guess I'd go for the Micro Cam 2, unless an upset customer tells me they're not as good as they look!

PD. Sorry, I forgot to post the price, which is 100€ = 121 US$. (So the Micro Cam is 6$ cheaper)

Hi, J

Looks a lot like my first vid system which first took flight in a ZAGI 400. Same res but had 2.4Ghz. I had a ball with it. Mounted it to a popsickle stick by two servos- one for camera pitch and a second servo for lateral control from extra channels on the tx for the big sailplane- just looking around and recording it all and flying it by the viewfinder on the camcorder.

I like the really small CMOS cam that can be taped to the side of an electric gliders fuselage, or the wingtip- or a kite- or that cool blimp at the car dealership!

I made optional 4 foot long power wires so I could put the cam on the tail or tip and keep the 9V battery forward to avoid having to add gobs of weight to balance it. Tape it down where it balances and you are ready to go. Tape is a wonderful tool for putting a cam where you want it! Have fun.

Don't try the tripod tracking system pictured here- it was awful. Use some kind of headtenna if you have a directional antenna on the mw receiver. Nothing else comes close.
