Battery for camera reciever
I just bought one of those mini cams to put in my plane, and the reciever didn;t come with any battery or battery connectors. It just has a wall adapter which gives 12V at 300mA. I tried using a 9 volt battery for it, since the reciever is labeled "9-12 V", but that doesn't work well enough to bring in a good image. I need something portable so I can take this out to the field (which is what I bought it for). I don;t know much (yet) about batteries. Anyone have any ideas about what kind of battery pack to put together for this?

Just power it off a small motorcycle or lawnmower battery. I use a ten cell NIMH pack. I just soldered the leads in series from a two cell AA holder onto one of the leads of an eight cell pack and glued it to the pack. Works just as well. And you'll also find that powering your plane's video transmitter works better if you power it with a 9.6 volt park flyer pack.

RE: Battery for camera reciever
Hello,
I power my ground equipment from my truck accessory 12volt jack. I power my airborne equipment with cr123 lithum camera batteries. I goth the lithum camera batteries from a local salvage store, cheap.
I like not having to charge so many batteries. All I have to worry about charging is my airplane batteries.

I feel silly now. I just realized that I can use the 8 cell AA battery pack that I use with my helmet cam. Thanks for the responses, though.

I either power it from my glow plane flight box, my E-flight box with the Die Hard tractor battery in it or, if I need mobile power, a 10 cell 1700mAh AA nicad pack. All work well for as long as I need em to.
The nicad pack is usually mounted on the back of a hardhat with the rx on top and a patch antenna on the front. Hang the camcorder in its bag over my shoulder and I am completely mobile for those flights where I need to follow the plane around the area.
