Mock Car Commercial: The GroundEffect Mobile
Here is a sort of mock car commercial I shot yesterday on my car
(The GroundEffect Mobile )I cut it last night and part of today.
The lighting wasn't the best, the time off day was a little late
for some of the shots I went for as you can see some helicam shadows.
All shot on GS250 3CCD

RE: Mock Car Commercial: The GroundEffect Mobile
Hey guys.... I decided to take another crack at it... this time
make it a little quicker, more and faster cuts with more 'motion' and 'moment'.
Also, it's shorter, along the same lines of a real commercial.
Theres a little voiceover in there as well, nothing big, kind of corny, matches the corny music I guess
Some shot rundowns:
=====================
The under the car zoom shot:
----------------------------
Zoom can be evil in filming and video, there are differences between
zooming (moving the lens) and moving the camera... you will get
different outcomes. I used zoom here because I don't have a dolly.
Anyway, it's a quick zoom shot from under the car to give the impression
it's a big car.
Line to the tire:
------------------
This shot was actually created on location. I wasn't in my shot list,
but thought it would be a neat shot to follow the line into the tire
then cut to a wider shot of the car from that same angle, back
near the bumper from a side perspective.
The speedometer shot:
----------------------
So if it's a car commercial (I'm pretending I drive a sports car here)
then you want to convey speed, motion/movement
There are three shots here:
1) close up (CU) -- ghosting effect for movement from
one position to another, this emphases these points I think.
2) Extreme close up (ECU)
3) Another ECU shot straight footage, no effect just increased frame
speed.
For the 'flashes', that is one frame of pure white.
I also 'leveled' the color and contrast range for these shots
for a bolder look.
Towards and up...
-------------------
This next shot, flying towards the car with the wide angle lens...
then cut to a vertical shot (hovering over car and adding rudder while
increasing altitude... this was on my shot list. The effect of the
lines in the field and the circle was a side effect of where I parked, which
played up for a great 'echo' effect with 15 or so frame delay.
Oh, we can't forget the corny voice over... we'll just came up with it on
the spot, it's kind of funny, but gives you the idea.
the script:
===========
"
Fast, powerful, sleek
out of this world
Whether it's heading out to the soccer field
or racing around town
The GroundEffect Mobile will get you there
In Time,
On Time,
In no time.
"
There are many ways to edit a piece, it depends on what is requested,
and what the editor feels I guess.
This was the result of the second and final edit for this one...

RE: Mock Car Commercial: The GroundEffect Mobile
AWESOME VIDEO...but of a KIA?
I dunno but the car gets better looking the further away the shot, and from a testosterone standpoint I would not want video proof of owning a KIA
