horizontal lines?
Can some one tell me what causes the horizontal lines in this vid. Slow frame rate (15fps), radio interferance, etc.? Thank you, Venom[link] http://putfile.com/venom290[/link]

RE: horizontal lines?
Cant tell from vid, sounds like a glow engine - in which case it is the emf from the plug firing. pull the camera back a bit from the engine.

RE: horizontal lines?
Hi venom,
It's a classic. Those lines are caused by the CMOS camera looking through your propeller. A CCD camera would not have this appearance. The best thing to do (next to getting a CCD camera) is to move the camera out from behind the prop.
Hope this helps,

RE: horizontal lines?
CCD Cameras give much better video quality. They use more current and cost more money, but totally worth it. Also, when you look through a prop, it looks right. It will sometimes strobe when the RPMs come close to the frame rate and you can actually see the blade standing still.

Quacker is right....
BTW... glow engines do not produce EMI and thier glow plugs do not "fire". There is no ignition system like on a car, lawn mower etc... Unless of course you are running a gas model engine wich would not be considered "glow".
Ignition systems produce EMI from high voltage being delivered in pulses to a spark plug. The voltage can exceed 100,000 volts. Or 100KV on modern vehilces... Your briggs lawn mower gets to about 30KV.
EMI = Electro-Magnetic Interference
