New OSD/GPS for your plane/heli
This just came up and I thought it would nice to share it with everyone. Affordable On Screen Display with GPS for your plane, heli or what ever you want to use it for. You can change the text layout to your preference and the software is upgradeable.

Seen it before and some of the more experienced fellas dumped the Black Box because of it's bulkiness and lack of features. Still for that kind of price for a entry level set up, you are right, it's cheap!

RE: New OSD/GPS for your plane/heli
Hi Guys,
I'm from intelligent flight, one of our distributors pointed me to this thread.
"Thats great but it seems they charge you for everything ( module, sensors, cables etc. )."
All of the modules are offered separately because we realise that not everyone wants everything, or that you may want to set up multiple planes differently. Buying the "Starter Kit" is a cheap way to get a standard set of sensors and the module itself. A lot of people are starting to own GPS units these days, so that is why we do not sell them in the pack.
"Dump no PAL"
The entire system was developed and tested on PAL pretty much... We've supported PAL from day one! PAL is even the default option on the web store

Hi ustas,
Unfortunately due to the work load and a screw up by Mouser they will not be back in stock for probably a week to a week and a half! It pains me for them to be unavailiable for so long.
The wait will be worth it though, i assure you!

As a note, the other OSD should be showing as in stock at RC-Tech (www.rc-tech.ch) in the next day or two, if it is not already. They are the only one's world wide currently with stock.
The new OSD we have 1, maybe 2 units spare if you want a BOB-4 with it, 2-3 spare if you do not. Email [email protected] to resserve one.

I was browsing around Thomas S personal website ( The main creator of the Intelligent Flight OSD) and found some helpful tricks to pump up the I.F. OSD! Note, I highly recommend you browse around the rest of his personal site for it's a treasure box of "Intelligent" goodies!

Well they JUSSSST posted the webpage for this crazzy OSD here!!! http://www.intelligentflight.com/sto...products_id=34
I just found out that the source code to make this run is free to all users and they can modify it to any degree they wish, so extremely flexible and versatile! Also future upgrades will be a breeze to do!!!

JMSTECH,
do you have any links to the code or how to configure this? The spec on the sales page is very limited. Is this unit a OSD unit, or does it also convert the NMEA strings into a servo output also as indicated in one of the bullets on the web page you sent the link to? At first glance this looks like a good product, but we could do with a little more info.

Hi dzbum!
Did you check out this link? http://www.intelligentflight.com/sto...47fc866fbf0fb3
Also I'm not sure on your question in regards to NMEA. Best to ask Mark on that one!!! All I know is that they are testing out some most interesting add ons which will make most smile in both the air plane and heli world! Manual is found here: http://www.dragonosd.com/Support/DragonOSDManual.doc
Anyhow I feel very confident that this unit along with their lighter unit will lock the competition out because of price and versatilities (they seem more open minded in design compare to others I've spoken). It's a easy winner to me So please contact Mark on Intelligent Flight to more technical answers! I'm just a guy like everyone else here but I managed to find a very cool toy (after comparing other units) and decided to share this valuable find to all!
BTW mine is coming soon!

RE: New OSD/GPS for your plane/heli
JMSTech,
Thanks to your post, I got my order in the other day also The Dragon OSD is the best designed, most user friendly by far of all the OSD's that I have seen. The 300 dollar price is not bad at all, considering that you get a really awesome 5 HZ update GPS with it. Even a cheap GPS will cost around 100 bucks, so 200 for the Dragon OSD and 100 for the best GPS available, and the competition does not even come close ! I guess they dont have to many in this first run, it would only let me buy one... But I will eventually put the Dragon OSD in all 4 of my FPV planes.

Hi JP,
Thank you and coming from you it means a lot! You are really well known in this field and have proven to all of us what your ability is! (VERY HIGH!) So when you approve something, every one should stop and listen!

RE: New OSD/GPS for your plane/heli
I was browsing again tonight and found Thomas Scherrer of Intelligent Flight added a G-Force sensor on their first OSD unit. He clocked his plane at 213KM/hr and mentioned his G-force was about 6.2G. Most interesting so here is the video.. note: listen to the plane in the background .... very cool stuff!!!! http://www.webx.dk/rc/video-wireless/stick-speed213.mpg

RE: New OSD/GPS for your plane/heli
I was following a public message from Mark of Intelligent Flights. It is regarding the old EB-85A Firmware GPS software updates.
MARK HARRIS SAYS:
Hello Everyone,
We've finally convinced ETek to allow us to send in old EB-85A's to get their firmware updated. We're wanting to get as many as possible to cut down on the postage cost per person to and from ETek.
You'll be without your GPS unit for approx 1-1.5 months i'm afraid. This is due to ~5 days to get to me, then ~5 days to get back to you... with 2 days to and from ETek. (all business days.. not including weekends) plus the time it takes for them to do the updates.
We're only going to charge you the cost of postage and the stuff used in packaging.
Costs:
* Postage back to you: US$15 (up to about 15GPS units)
* Postage to/from ETek: US$12 + $2 per additional unit (your share in a DHL express parcel)
* Firmware update: Free
Also, your GPS unit *must* be in perfect working condition. If it does not work it will simply be thrown out and your money refunded. Please don't waste our time with dead units

RE: New OSD/GPS for your plane/heli
Well I just heard that Daniel and Thomas of Intelligent Flight are working on a RF Link that will allow us to fly our planes 10-20 or more KM!!! The frequencies that are in play here are 433Mhz and 900Mhz. Better penetration around/through objects and greater range compared to 2.4Ghz. So something in the works for us to play with in the near future!
Oh check out Thomas neat site!!! Has loads of DIY (Do It Yourself) mods/tricks for RC!! A gem of a website!!!! http://www.webx.dk/rc/rc.htm
