Camcorder for Nitro Planes
Hi. I've tried mounting my Nokia 6220 on my 4stroke nitro plane with terrible results. I think the EMI or EFI from the engine ruins the video. Example:

Then I tried mounting my 500g Canon MV830i camcorder (standard definition mini DV tape) and gave me much better results. Example:

But 500g is too heavy and makes my plane sluggish. Im looking for a lighter camcorder that works well with nitro planes. Im pretty sure MiniDV tape camcorders work well but they tend to be slightly heavier. I was thinking of camcorder with flash memory instead, something like the Canon FS11 weighing only 260g:

But Im worried it dont work well with nitro planes. Has anyone tried flash memory camcorder on a nitro plane? Any video samples?
Thanks for your replies.

RE: Camcorder for Nitro Planes
I tried my Canon MV830i camcorder again. It works fairly well in the forward facing position. But when I face the cam to the rear, I get alot of interference/distortion when I throttle up. Weird. I guess I still havent found the perfect cam for my 4stroke nitro plane.

RE: Camcorder for Nitro Planes
The "interference" your seeing is probably just vibration from the engine. This will cause wavy/blurry video. Only way to cure it is to mount the camera in a way as to isolate it from the vibration(maybe using some foam rubber),and to make sure the prop/spinner is well balanced to reduce the vibration as much as can be. They also make engine mounts that are supposed to reduce the vibration transferred to the airframe, but I don't know how well they work. I really think eliminating vibration is the key here, not switching to a different camera.
