How is the film transfered form transmitter?
 

Hi all. I have a question. I am looking into maybe buying a used camera and transmitter. Anyway how does it work? Your flying around, sending the signal to the transmitter and does the transmitter save the data and then you hook it up to a VCR or does it have be hooked up to a VCR while recording? Also, are cameras with a 480 lines of re****ion good enough to get a fairly clear image of what your doing?
Any help would be greatful.

Hi!
With these wireless video systems there is an airborne camera and transmitter and a ground based receiver. Generally the rx is plugged into a camcorder or a portable video tape recorder that has an analog (RCA connectors usually) input. Some guys also use laptop computers with analog video capture cards.
In my case I record from the rx using my Sony Digital 8 camcorder. My father uses his Sony Hi-8 camcorder. Two camcorders a the field is also very handy as one can be recording the signal from the plane and the other can be shooting the plane from the ground. Mixing the videos together can make for some pretty cool movies.
Any camcorder with analog input will do. 480 lines of res is more than adequate for a good image.
380 lines from a CCD camera is still of a higher quality than standard VHS if I recall correctly.
If you have checked out any of the videos made by the guys on this forum, remember that the actual video they shot is of a much higher res than the media files posted on the websites. They lose a lot when you render them down to .wmv files.
