Bad News for the 2CoolRC 1500S...

Well,

After the glowing review of the 2CoolRC 1500S video transmitter, the let down comes. Suspicions were confirmed by independent testing and this is what was learned.

Actual operating conditions.

9V current: 450mA (not suitable for 9V battery).

Operating Freq: 1080Mhz

The transmit frequency is stable to 6.9V. A seven cell 720mAH NiMH AAA
pack would offer well over an hour of use (up to 1.5 hrs).

Was not able to accurately measure the RF power. My microwave RF meter
is limited to 0.5 watts. This Tx over-ranged it, so I can only confirm
that you have at least 500mW. With luck, the labeled specs are accurate.

I wish I had better news on the Freq. It is too bad they are marketed as
"1.2Ghz" systems.

So there you have it..... if you are not concerned about being legal then it's a good unit.

Isnt it possible to tweak the freq (with the correct equipment) so its legal ?

There are some things that you can do, but for a significant frequency shift (as in this case) it generally just isn't feasable. I believe there is a thread here or maybe on RC-CAM's page where someone tried it and didn't fare to well.

I think the VCO chip would have to be changed.
