My name is Max and I am a terra-server addict. Well, I was anyway. When I first found the site a couple years ago I would spend hours looking at the images. Worse than porn... (I know, I'm a sick man) I could see the little single track trails I ride my motorcycle on in the desert. I think some times I could even see the cows! I have used it to figure out where there are dry lake beds near Reno to fly on. Cool.
As far as the dates of pics goes it apears that most pics of good size towns or points of interest are newer and outlying areas might go back decades. Sometimes you will have different date images show up right next to each other, so you will see half of a new subdivision. Or, as you zoom in or out whole roads or neighborhoods will vanish. That was a couple of years ago and I have heard that after microsoft handed it off to who-ever has it now as a commercial enterprise it has gotten even better.

I found my house too. It seems you need some landmarks to do it. I started with the San Jacinto monument and Battleship Texas then moved south to the airport which I live right by. I couldn't find my Moms' place out in BFE though. No landmarks!

Too bad they don't have satellite images of Canada. If I can't find my house or my flying field, but I can find my favourite flying field I visited when I was on a business trip in San Jose...

Here's [link=http://www.sccmas.org]SCCMAS[/link] from [link=http://terraserver-usa.com/image.aspx?t=1&s=10&x=3084&y=20573&z=10&w=1]satellite[/link].

Here's a theme for this thread... Everyone try to find your flying field using TerraServer and post the link here.

Ok here's mine...... [link=http://terraserver-usa.com/addressimage.aspx?t=1&s=10&lon=-81.2072682007468&lat=34.9782380857357&alon=-81.21055308&alat=34.97644251&w=1&ref=A%7cLangrum+B ranch+Rd%2c+York%2c+SC+29745]York County Flyers, York, South Carolina.......[/link]

My (well, OUR) field is located off of Langrum Branch Road, just outside of York, South Carolina....If you are in the vacinity then just top by......the directions from Charlotte, NC are at the top of RCU under the locate field thing.......YORK COUNTY FLYERS

If ya want more info about flyins and stuff go here: [link=http://www.yorkcountyflyers.com]York County Flyers' Website...[/link]

The only thing bad about my field is if you go down about times, and then left once, you can see these little thing....if in color they could be yellow, and they would be the place where the buses are taken for mechanic work.....Our field gets alot of complaints about us flying over that....especially the new people....but they learn sometime.......
