WOW! What a great video. I thought it had real good picture quality. Nothing shaking, jerking or bouncing around. Loop, roll, self portrait, pretty scenery, it just don't get no better than this.
OH YEAH, good choice of background music too. That was way better than we usually hear on so many of these videos.
GOOD JOB!!!
Tell us about your set up.

RE: A vid from last week

I am glad you like it..

The camera is a CCD color board camera out of an Ademco AD2FC1 mini dome. The video transmitter is an astrotel vc-2-ms (HI) The specs are 500mw @2.4ghz. 12 volts dc. I removed the transmitter from the case, and use a piece of wire for the tx antenna with ground plane (cut to 1/4 wave freq length) . On the rx side, I discarded the stock circut board antenna and added a coax for a 13dB gain patch type antenna. Adding the Patch rx antenna made a huge difference.. I am using a 3 cell 700ma li-poly for the tx and it would have higher RF output and better range at 12v.

For this flight, everything was added to the SS with electrical tape:D The landing gear was wrapped around itself like it comes from the box, and the cam was taped on down by the wheels.. The video tx was placed back near the tail, and the R/C RX antenna was fed through a pocket knife slit out at the wingtip. I can go from stock SS to camera plane, to video plane an just a few minutes.. Crazy simple and works most every time.. If the SS was not so darned expensive, I would have (1) for each activity :D

Well I am impressed. Even-though I don't understand all the technical lingo.

Ivspark,

Did I read that right? Your slow stick is stock? It sure was up high. Thanks for sharing the video

When I typed stock SS I meant my SS without any additional payloads.. It has a park 370 brushless and li-po batts.

I had to climb about 800' to get to the rim of the canyon.. 1:05 into the video , the whilte buildings below is the LZ. I continued to climb while flying towards the river canyon. I turned around because it was getting close to the limits of visual range. I could have gone higher and further, but I like to have an unaided eye on the model at all times.

Your video is what inspired me to buy a SS and a wireless camera. (Just bought it!)

How long did it take you to learn to land the SS in your hand like that?

lvspark 01-13-2005 02:02 PM

RE: A vid from last week

I did not take long to learn.. I flew slope for a couple of years, and learned there.. Just bring it in nice and easy. If it is going fast, I bring it in low and do a big stall right in front of you, if it is comming in slow, bring it in chest high and mush it out. The two catches on the video show each way this.. (mush first, big stall 2nd on the video)

I'm glad you like the videos I post, and now you have to post some for use to be inspired by! Most of all , be safe, and then have fun.

Mush it out? I'm new to this......

When it is coming in fast, you say you bring it in low and then stall it. At what point did you kill the motor? Same question for when it is coming in slow.....at what point did you kill the motor? How do you "mush it out"?

I bought a Slow Stick, a 1.2 GHz 200 mW camera, and some video goggles. I already have a Sony DVD handycam to record it. I bought a brushless motor for the Slow Stick and some 3-cell LiPo batteries. I haven't gotten it completely assembled yet, but I hope to have it done by this weekend. In the meantime, I've been flying my Slo-V. Do you know how the Slow Stick compares to the Slow V flightwise? I've had trouble trying fly the Slo-V towards me close enough where I can catch it when landing. I hope the Slow Stick is more repsonsive.......

The SS is very responsive..

Mush it out?? Hmmm like flying on the edge of a stall, and if you give up elevator, it falls out of the sky.....

Just fly it at you with the motor off, and you had better catch it or you will get hurt.. You will learn fast grasshopper!:)

Mike,

Thanks for the information. What antenna are you using on your receiver?

I'm speachless. Didn't know you could do that so easily. Congratulations.

And it sounds as it's not really that hard. I have a micro camera but not sure about the image quality. Could you please post pictures of your independent setup parts with a little description? It may seem a big favor to ask, but believe me all us newbies would really, REALLY appreciate it.

Thanks in advance.

I don't have the model # of the RX antenna right now.. It'a just a run of the mill 13db patch for 2.4ghz.

I don't have any pictures of my plane, the cam is always on it:D

That's great.

If you don't mind me asking, how much does the TVMicron go for?

VERY VERY nice. You really shoot some great video lvspark. I have a camera strapped to my Aerobird Challenger and I am trying to improve my reception as well. the camera is a 2.4Ghz one from Raidentech.com. Sound and all that but the range is short =/ Any ideas on improving the RX on it? or should I just get a diffrent camera? (not trying to hijack your thread heh).

Mike,

I flew my Slow Stick for the first time today!! I've been flying my Slo-V to learn on.....but this Slow Stick is SO much easier to control! I have a Thunder Power 3 cell LiPo battery and a brushless Eflite 400 motor on it and the thing will fly STRAIGHT UP vertically! It's amazing compared to the Slo-V. I could barely get the Slo-V to gain altitude.

I took it out this evening and practiced landing it by catching it. I was able to catch it in my hand at least 20 times in a row. I was never able to catch the Slo-V even once (to hard to control compared to the SS, especially with the weak motor that comes with it.)

Can't wait to get my camera installed on it and start flying it from the cockpit...........if only my video goggles would get here. Damn UPS........
