That Babcock 3-tube single channel radio Hal used weighed more than many REMA electrics weigh today!
The 67-1/2 vokt B-battery that powered it was close to a pound!

Interesting but a bit hard to read. I find 1 Meg setting on the digital camera works better for text. Only problem is you have to do a couple of entries because of RCU limitations.

It's only hard to read because of how RCU presents attached pictures. Instead of just clicking for a "larger" view which isn't large enough try right click and "save as" then open the pages in a graphics viewer that you can zoom more easily. The file size is up around 240K so it very readable when you make it bigger.

Actually, if you click to enlarge you get an not-so-good enlargement BUT IT HAS A BLUE BUTTON in the lower right corner. Click that and you see the attachment at it's original size. At least with those page copies, they become readable.

I was looking at it after the Blue button click. You will notice that there are a lot of aliasing effect when looking at the photos in the article. This means the sampling rate or resolution of the camera is too low. For instance, here is a picture taken from a similar publication in the 50's with the same dot spacing. No aliasing because the resolution of the camera is high enough.

I rescan them at at a higher res and see how that works.
I really like how your post looks.
My new scanner has a 200 dpi default I forgot about, along with descreen.
and I should have remember that one here is the first one...
The binding is so stiff it is hard to get the page flat on the glass...
Perhaps I should just get out the Nikon and try some Macro shots...
I will try to clean them up a bit more I do not like how the first one came out.
I could read them when I opened them in photo shop but they are nasty looking with the web browser.
If you can read the table on the page a 76 oz plane flying with a .25 engine, we use a 40 at least today.

One thing I do recall is that planes with rudder only or rudder and elevator had a lot more dihedral than today's airplanes. Even an lt 40 seems to have a lot flatter wing than my old Berkley cub had, I think it was around 3 inches high at the wingtip.
