150cc Extra 260
I finally got around to putting my Extra together, I'll post a few pictures as I go along. Not a build thread as Mark already did one on it. DA170 for power. I am going over the coverig and re-shrinking it right now and will seal the hinge gaps wihile I am at it.
BTW Mark or Rocco Was the Sukhoi 26 or 31 make the cut when you guys were deciding on new planes?

RE: 150cc Extra 260
I forgot to mention what scheme it is in the first post. You can see it in the pics below. I went with the 260 instead of the new 300 for two reasons. One I already have a 100cc 300 and I didn't want two the same except for the size. The other reason is this plane has to be one of the most honest flying planes I have had. While it is becoming an older design for AW it is still a winner in my books. I previously had the 33% 260 which I foolishly sold to a friend last summer. I must say it is sure nice to get back to building an AW kit. My last build was covered in Monokote, ugh. That stuff seems to get worse every time I use it. Anyway here are a couple of pics, I have to get back to sealing the hinge gaps.

RE: 150cc Extra 260
That hurt..
I am using Hitec 7950's on all of the controls and tail mounted rudder servos. The plane comes with the servo cutouts in the wings and stabs already done and I am only using one servo in each stab and two in each wing. In the wings I will use the inner and outer bays and in the stabs the inner bays. So I needed to cover up the cutouts for the unused servo bays as shown below.

The wings and stabs are all done and packed back in their bags for now. The servos are all programed for throws and centers. On to the fuselage tomorrow.

I hinged the rudder with Gorilla Glue this morning and sealed the gap. Made up four 52" extensions and threaded them through the fuselage, then mounted the rudder servos and programed them. I am not 100% satisfied with the geometry and may change it a bit if I can. The tailwheel is from J&J Tailwheels.

I can't wait....
I ordered some new pro links. I don't like the setup with the servo turned that way. With the longer links I can turn the servos around and I am going to set them up so that the arm is not centered to the servo, but set so it is 90 degrees to the pushrod. Then I will be able to program the servos properly. The way they are now when I program the end points and center to get rid of all the servo buzz everything in between is binding. The geometry just plain sucks.

Hey Doug.
Don't know if you can raise the control horn higher. If you have good wood high enough then move it up first before you spend more money.
Put your servo into a push condition and mark the center of the ball link at max throw. Then put your center line of your horns just a little below that.. I found that in built from stick planes it seams to be the optimal location for horns to the Ark of the Servo Arm.
Turning the servo around will help with the geometry also.
Hope that makes sense.

RE: 150cc Extra 260
Well I am pretty much finished it now. I have the gear assembled and ready to go on, but I cannot put it on until I take the fuselage out of the house. The panel and pilot are installed in cockpit. Engine and all the gear is installed and ready to go. Cowl is all cut out and fitted with a choke linkage and a hole for access to tune the carb. The only hold up is I am waiting on my headers with should be here tomorrow with UPS. I have a feeling they may be a day late though. My new prolinks will be here in the morning and then I am going to change the rudder geometry. I made some changes to the canister tunnel. There was an area on each side at the back that is open for heat etc to get into the radio compartment. I like to keep them sealed so I cut some balsa to fit into the areas and sealed it up. The rear end cannot be sealed up and covered until I finish installing the cans.

Did it come with a split cowl or did you split it yourself?
Nice No Limitz Spinner. I'm still waiting on mine.
I'm not familiar with Porolinks. Take some good pictures when you get them.

I got it all fixed up. I left the servos as is and used shorter 3.5" links to bring the servo arm back so it would be 90 degrees to the link. No more binding and equal travel both ways. The way it was with the arm straight up at center the travel was offset by 10 degrees.

By the looks of that I think I'll send my spinner down to you Tom. Wow nice job.

I followed CSpaces tutorial on Cutting a No Limitz spinner . Its on FG in the PAU Support forums. RCU won't let me post a link so you will just have to look for it.

RE: 150cc Extra 260
I'll have a look. I was just going to make a template off of one of my Truturn spinners and tape it onto the No Limitz.
I finished up all I can do in the house today. The mail and UPS both came through for me so I got all the parts I needed to finish. Tomorrow I will maneuver it out of the furnace room and up the stairs and into the garage. It is a tight squeeze to get these 42% birds out of here. As it is I have a hard enough time just trying to work on it in here. You can't see in the pictures but the room is very narrow as well. Once I get it into the garage I can put on the gear, stabs and wings to do a CG check. I'll wait until spring before I put on the graphics.
