GPutt33,
If the rubber boot is falling off that easy it may be that the metal piece inside the boot is out of shape. You can use a pair of needle nose pliers and try and bend the piece inside the boot to make a better fit. You wont hurt it. If it's falling off you don't want it any way.

Ok Guys thanks - I'll look at the inner ring that goes around the top of the plug and see what it looks like. When I try to force it down on the plug the bottom of the steel caps seems to rest just on top of the edge of the bevels for the nut part of the plug. Should it go down over the bevel'd portion further?

My plug fits so tight I could hardly get it off. Infact the first time I pulled it off I pulled the ground wire out from the boot and I did it as gentle as possible. (Be carefull of that its hard to repair) It just flew off when it finally gave way. I think you just need to give r a good hard push to make it fit. Mine was the same way.
This engine is perfect for this bird. I have about 20 flights on mine now with no problems. Keep an eye on your engine temp. These engines run hot. You may need to open your cowl up a little more. The MVVS web sight said they should run between 130 and 140 degrees celcius. They also have some tips on how to make them run cooler with shrouding and actually closing the front of the cowl to direct the air at the head. Mvvs and evolution are the same here is a link, I'm not sure if I did this right its a 1st try. [link=http://www.mvvs.nl/]MVVS Model Engines main page[/link] Look under MVVS user forums.
For 2 stroke oil I switched to cenex synthetic oil it works great with less of a mess. 32 to 1. They recomend Mobil 1 synthetic racing oil but I could not find that stuff any where. There is a lot of hipe out there about amsoil but I read a lot of bad things about it in forums about gumming up bearings. Just a heads up. Keep us posted!

Vahn - Sorry, I knew that was going to come back and haunt me as soon as I posted it
Thanks for the info on the plug. Usually anytime I try to force something I end up breaking something somewhere You'd be surprised actually at the list I could probably come up with normally so called in-destructible items [X(]
Anyhow, I went out in the shop, gave her a little harder nudge and sur'nuf, it slid right on down over the top of the hex part of the plug. Feels pretty tight now
Hopefully tomorrow the wind will cooperate and I'll be able to give you the results of my maiden flight as well, keep you fingers crossed

I was able to finish my YAK 54 today and plan on putting the maiden flight on it in the morning. I ran my fuel lines different than what was called for. I used two fuel dots. All I have to do is fire the engine up and tweak it a little and it's ready to go. I had to pull the JR PCM receiver out because I'm having a problem with the JR 7202 system and I think it has been norrowed down to the TX. I sent the RX in to Horizon and it's ok. I have two of the R790 receivers and not one will work.

RE: Introducing the new 90-1.20 Yak QB
Ottorod, have you tried hovering your plane?
I'm totally wanting to slip a 125 in there... If a 110 YS can pull the plane out of trouble, I'm sure a 125 could do the same...
Let me know how the plane fairs in 3D flight!
Thanks!

I just come back from the field and the maiden went very well even though the first flight was a dead stick. I changed the plug and leaned the OS 120AX out a little and all went well after that. The throws in the manual were a little to much on the elevator for me being a new plane so I toned it down a little. This plane lands very well and handles the wind very good as you can see by the pic it was about 10-20 mph cross wind. It was to hot today to stay any longer as it is suppost to get close to 100 degree today. I am very please with this plane and it was money well spent.

Looks like you have a pretty nice flying field.

ottrod,
At our field we have 500' of concrete and 600' feet of grass. These pic's were taken at 7:30 in the morning. Trying to beat the heat. It's very hard to fly this early as our runway is north and south so that means you’re facing east to fly. Just as the sun is coming up and in your face. With the temp getting close to 100 degree today and the humidity so high that even in the shade you sweet all I wanted to do was get a few flights on the plane and get out.

Otto:
Weight would be sweet... If the plane weighs 9 or less it's golden. My funtana weighs 9 pounds and the 125 is perfect. No unlimited vertical, but that's not what i need... as long as it gets me out of trouble 2 feet off the ground i'm all good

Hey Zippi, you need to add the Yak to your website. Nice website by the way.
I still haven't finished mine because I haven't been able to work on it. I'm getting the 1.80 this week.
Until next time!

Abras
A Saito 150 would be an excellent choice for the Yak. I have a Saito FA-180 on mine and it will weigh just about the same as the 150
go for it.

Great! can you show some pictures of your installation?
What muffler did you use?
My saito 150 spins a 17x6 at 9000rpm (15% nitro), I think it's great match for this airframe.

Your local Ace Hardware store generally has a great assortment of small springs for things like this. The "big box" hardware stores won't carry it, but I have found them at Ace.

I managed to get some springs, but i don't know about the throw on the tailwheel. What do you guys think? Is it enough as these pictures are at full rudder throw.
