Maiden flight today!

5 flights total for the day and couldn't be happier with this aircraft!

DA 50
Robart Electric gear
Air tank for internal gear doors sequenced through my DX 18

This thing flies like it's on rails and lands like a trainer.

Great airplane!

I'm talking to my banker about this plane and the possibility of powering it with the RotoMotor 85 inline twin. Anyone tried this setup?

For those replacing the tail wheel retract, what are you using for door kickers on the new ones? If you had a picture that would be great!

Thanks,
Linz

Linz,

I just took the brackets off of the original retracts and drilled the Robart retracts to accept them - works great

Hi all, despite my unhappy start with this plane o test flew it the other day and it flew very well and looked fantastic. Couple of teething problems. Gear is retracting very slowly and looks to me like it over heated. About 5min into flight engine stopped. I have put a baffle infront of the ING module and I have what I would consider enough exit air. Anyone got pics of their cowl?

We have found if you cut open the two formers as shown in the pictures and open the air scoop this drastically helps to prevent any over heating problems.

Let me know if you have any further questions.

Thank you
Rocco

Ok thanks, has anyone built a box over the ignition and used it as a duct to force the air out the bottom of the cowl?

Mine's not been flown yet due to some significant medical issues I had right after finishing the model, but with an eye toward keeping the ignition module cool, I put it inside the engine box as I would say an IMAC bird. Not positive I won't have some heating issues with the DA-60, but I'm sure it won't involve the ignition module.

I'm not sure if the module getting hot will stop the engine, is it more likely to be the engine?

I have been thinking of doing this, however, I am concerned that the heat from the engine compartment passing through the fuselage could deform the canopy. Has there been any indication of this happening or any other heat related issues from this modification?

Thanks in advance.

Ron,

We have not had a problem with the heat deforming the canopy and I do not think this will be an issue.

Thank you
