Default saito 150 enough engine for 30% extra 300?

i have a brand new saito 150, and was wondering if you think it would be powerful enough for one of your extra 300 30% planes. I notice on your web sight that you don't carry any 25% planes anymore. due to the cost effectiveness of gas 30cc engines and fuel,I'm sure. But, and please don't take this the wrong way, I'm not found of the yak. I know this engine would make your yak 90-120 fly great, but the extra is one of the reasons I got into this hobby and I have spent the last five years building skill's and learning as much as I can . And now I feel like I'm ready to move forward with my progression into imac aerobatics and would like to, eventually will one day, move up into giant scale imac competition. any advice would be much appreciated. thanks for all that you've done for this wonderful hobby of our's.

The simple answer is no. I'm not with Areoworks but I have an affinity for Saito engines and can tell you that the 150 is to small. Its about 25cc in size and a 30% plane would take a 50-60cc gas engine. The 30cc size Extra would fly with it but probably be a little under powered.

I was able to fly IMAC Basic this year and had a blast. I was actually in here looking for info on a plane for Sportsman for next year. I would definitely encourage you to give it a try.

thanks for the info jimz. i don't know what i was thinking when i wrote 30%... 30cc would be what I meant. i know that aero-works airframes are well built but light and i was hopeful , but that's what i thought also.any recommendations for a good model for this engine? i want to get into aerobatics and have always liked the extra. but i'd like something that I can develope some chops on,know what I mean.thanks for your response

I like the Yak that you mentioned and the Extra will work for basic, just keep it light. Actually the two air frames are close in size. You will not have the unlimited vertical that people talk about, but it should work.

Print off the basic knowns and give it a try. http://www.mini-iac.com/Portals/0/Do...2014_Basic.pdf

I have the 30CC Aeroworks Extra 300, and fly it using a Saito FA125 on CDI ignition. The engine pushes a 16x6 at 9,000+ rpm and for me... it flies the plane perfectly. I'm not into "3D" i.e. - flying planes like a toy So its perfect for me. Like a floaty aerobatic trainer with more than enough guts.

Are you refering to the orange and blue 30cc Extra? What is the weight of the plane with the 120 in it? I thought of getting one of those and putting in an OS 155a 4- stroke.
