If he can tip a plane forward like that and not spill a drop on the carpet he can do those one handed KE loops.
I still want to see the video though. Go team Tidwell!!!

My 60-90 showed up yesterday. I'm one of those picky people and found nothing to complain about on this one. Every thing is straight and true. The hinge line is perfectly centered. It is built strong ! The fuse is fully sheeted and there is hard wood used in what wouls be weak spots such as the servo holes in the tail. That is obviously where the extra weight comes from. I don't mind the extra weight. It'll help with penetrating the wind over here in southestern New England. 8-12 mph is normally a light breeze over here. Dave

Very cool, Dave! I had a feeling they would be built well. I'm not worried about the weight either. I've built a few with roughly the same weight and wing loading. They performed fine. I'm looking forward to this plane because its a bit different and very cool looking. Keep us posted on your progress!

What aleron servers are you guys using? Iwas going to use JRDS821's, but the heads are a bit short and dont stick out the botton of the wing and the horns rub the covering.

I'd just glue some 1/8 ply onto the mounts.

Os 55ax=1.75 hp
Os 61=1.90 hp
Not a huge difference in power and the recommended prop sizes are about the same sizes. Plus with the .61 you get a bunch of added weight! That motor will fly it, but it certainly won't pull it around like a profile should be. Also considering it's already a pig I'd certainly be looking for more power. Just my 0.02......

Thanks Daisy Shoot.
I have personal experience using this motor onsimilar airplanes. I've experienced success in a number of airframes about this weight and wing area. As you said, the same prop (13-4 apc for me) would be used for both. I have a new 55 on the bench but I'm thinking the 61 might do a better job. In any case, I'm going to assemble the airplane and then temproarily attach both motors and see what I'm looking at in terms of CG. I know for sure 750 squares will manage this airframe with this engine. One again, not at all like I light profile with a 55, but remember that's not what we're dealing with.I haven't run my 55 yet so I can't say for certain but I'm guessing the 61 will turn the 13-4 a little better. And I totally agree, I need to be looking for more power. The airplane is on my bench and I won't know even what I want to try until I'm a little farther along.

Got the plane! This is a shot of the fuse tunnel for servo extentions. We all know this isn't the lightest bird in the hanger, but it sure is nice to have a tunnel that will easily accept extensions with whatever connectors you prefer.

This is a shot of the engine bearers in the fuse. They seem pretty substantial and there looks to be plenty of wood to dremel a bit and fit most any motor you want in there. There's also a connecting block between the two bearers from which you could remove some material and mount a larger engine back a bit to help with the cg. upon initial inspection there doesn't seem to be a ton of glue on this block so I think I'll float some epoxy in there before I remove any wood.

The rudder area isn't as small as I was led to believe. Once i actually got the thing in my hands I could see there's a reasonable amount of flying surface area back there. I'll still use the SFG's but what I'm trying to say is its not like a 4 star rudder. The fake carbon fibre look to the canopy is very cool. This is going to be a nice looking airplane.
