Full scale flyers....roll call.

RE: Full scale flyers....roll call.
Soloed in 1967 and got half way to my private ticket, took a layoff from North American Rockwell at Kennedy Space Center, FL. Finished private in '80 and bought half interest in a 182. Next I bought a C-206, then a T-210 (stolen in Baja '04), and now a C-185. Started flying r/c while having the 206 maintained by an ex Nationals r/c contestant. Building r/c illustrates why I would never fly in a plane I built!!! I fly r/c on floats in the summer and on skis off of beach sand in the winter, sweet!!

RE: Full scale flyers....roll call.
Interesting !! I haven't flown "legally" since 1988. I was not very diligent with the logbooks either. Since 1965, "first legal solo", I have about 7800 hours till I quit logging time. Aircraft varied from J-3, to L-1049 and MANY between. Almost half of that time is "rotorwing" from the Bell-H13 to Sikorsky H-34. All great fun to fly under the right circumstances. Unfortunatly..... I did not have those circumstances when I flew them !!! Sold my last full scale several years ago, couldn't justify the expense any more. I do miss goin out to the hangar and messin with the Waco (!!! ) but life goes on !!!

My youngest child is now in high school, so I'm starting to "lay out the wool" for getting my first full sized bird. Don't have my ticket yet but I've got a few hours in a 172 and a couple dozen in a 182 that belonged to a neighbor. Been through the King's video series and very close to getting started with an instructor and finish getting my ticket. As soon as that's set in stone, I'm probably going to pick up some kind of four seater like a 172, Cherokee, or a Bonanza. I'm looking through E-bay and aviation sale papers regularly to see what's out there, so I've got a pretty good idea what I can pick up with my budget.
Also been toying with the idea of getting a Challenger II or Kit Fox to start out with until I'm through getting my ticket and I get comfortable taking up passengers. Either way, something's going to happen soon. Good Lord willing and nothing happens to my health, I'll be eating some of those $100 hamburgers soon.

PPL since summer 2010. Most of my time is in Wichita spamcans, some time in J3s and a 7AC Champ. Those are by far the most fun planes.
Oh, flew a Tecnam Echo Super once. Meh. I'm an old tailwheel guy.
Immediate wishlist is high-performance/complex endorsements, glider rating and aerobatic training. Doubt that will all happen this year though. Nobody I know likes to fly (or can fly—they all puke), so I have little interest in XC flying or an instrument ticket. I just want to get a little Pitts S1 and fly acro!

I'm there with you (about looking for a plane in the not too distant future). I have pretty much narrowed it down to a late model 35 Bonanza (S or newer) or a straight tail 33.
I have flown a crap ton of GA airplanes. And of the certified family haulers there was no comparison to the Beech's. They are built like tanks. There is a reason they have been in continuous production since the 40's. Plus you can get a solid airplane for $60,000.
I am NOT a fan of the Kitfox. One almost killed me when I got severe aileron flutter above 80 mph.
If I decide to build I am torn between the Model 12, Lancair Legacy, and an F-1 Rocket. I have flown numerous RV's and they are great airplanes. I just can't bring myself to love the hershey bar wing. The F-1 takes care of that! :-)
Being a commercial pilot I can always take the family on passes and just have a fun weekend plane so a 2 seater would be just fine. And there aren't many 2 seaters that are as fun as the Model 12. So it comes down to, buy a Bonanza and enjoy it now, or start building, spend more money in the long run, but have a new plane and enjoy it in 6 years or so. SO MANY CHOICES!!!! lol
Keep an eye on Trade A Plane and barnstormers!
Beechcraft V35B - Still one of the best looking singles. Classic!
Lancair Legacy - FAST (280 mph fun!)
Legacy's sound SWEET!

F-1 Rocket EVO - RV on steroids!
And my favorite homebuilt!
I mean who wouldn't like a 1.1:1 thrust to weight ratio? ;-)

Best flying of my career was with the Police during the Sydney Olympics and APEC 2007.Was a heli pilot and the fixed wing fleet commander. Now just flying corporate - Hawker 900 XP and a Global Express. Not as exciting but lots more time for RC..Australian and USA ATP - Commercial Heli Licence - Instructor - Examiner of Airmen.

I started flying models when I was 13 in the mid 80's. I started flying helicopters as an AeroScout Observer for the Army in 93' I went and earn all my fixed wing ratings. Then I went to Air Force pilot training in 1999. Went back to the Army Guard in 2007 flying CH-47s and Fly for an international airline on a Boeing 767.

Solo'd 1967 and got to 40 hours or so; school, Air Force and marriage got in the way. Started flying again in 1995. Started building a Van's RV-7A the week after 9/11/2001 and flew it for the first time June 24, 2009. She now has 500 hours on her and my wife and I love the freedom it gives us.

Flying R/C for about 6 years ,
Started PPL(m) lessons 2013 passed test 2014 ,I have 68hrs so far in a Eurostar EV97 at my local airfield ,and 20hrs in a Foxbat (in Spain)
weather and money and health are limiting my flying at the moment but will get more hours in this spring and summer hopefully ,
I,m getting back into R/C again in the meantime, got a quad and some FPV gear on the bench just now yet to maiden it
