Blue Angels Jet crash
Blue Angels Jet crashed over Beaufort South Carolina. It's not known if the pilot was able to eject. There are reports of homes on fire at the crash scene. The pilot did not make it.

RE: Blue Angels Jet crash
Fox news is reporting that the pilot was killed. A witness said that six aiplanes were flying in formation, when one slowed down and dropped.

I was at 37000ft over Beaufort when it hapened. Beaufort is where I grew up. I was going to the airshow today but I took a Citation Ultra flight from Savannah to Lexington and back. We are going Sunday. It is on the radio that the Angels will fly on sunday to respect the other pilot.

This is a real shame.[] The worst part was his family was on hand at the airshow and saw the whole thing. My deepest feelings go out to the family and the team for their loss. It is reported that they will fly on Sunday in memory of their fallen teammate.

RE: Blue Angels Jet crash
They said that he had been with the Blues for two years but that it was his very first show as a demo pilot. Does anyone know what happened? Problems with the 18 or just screwed up?? Just a shame, first show and all..

Truly a shame to see this. Well, i am sure you all remember when the Birds crashed a few years ago. Pilot error can happen anywhere, even in the most respected aviation squadron on the planet. Complacency is usually the culprit. I am hoping that it wasnt pilot error. It will be a while before we hear what really happened. There will i am sure, be aviation "experts" all over the news saying what they think happened but dont take it for true just yet. Could have been a birdstrike for all we know.

Wow.
This is a tragedy. I was so bummed to find out that they weren't going to fly in San Diego this year. Now, this. It's a very dangerous job they have, which is why they have to be the best in the biz to get on that team. I feel terribly for that man's family. Godspeed.

RE: Blue Angels Jet crash
I went to the show today and the Angels were gone. The crash was 3-4 miles from the spectators so it would have been hard to see. I will try and get some info from my fire dept. guys. This is in my back yard.

I THINK, only THINK (Speculate) that he probably didnt eject because he was caught off guard, very low level. Possibly, a bird strike would accomplish this. From the reports of eye witnesses, he was just above tree top level and then went in. Well, birds hang out right about here and in my OPINION could have caused enough trauma to the aircraft to cause him to be incapacitated (mentally or physically) in the split second before impact.
