Thinking about getting a new Airtronics SD-10G and do not know a lot about 2.4 can you use any manufactures recivers or do you have to stick to Airtronics recivers

You need to stick with Airtronics, but the good news is the Airtronics receivers are not as expensive as some other brands.

For ANYof the brands you are limited to their specific brand of Rx's. The good news is that Airtronics Rx's are the most aggressivly priced of all of the major brands...by a lot.

For the SD10G you have a whole series of options. Airtronics has 2 versions of 2.4ghz protocols. FHSS-1 and FHSS-3. The 3 versions are faster/higher resolution Rx's, but also a little more expensive.

(FHSS stands for Frequency Hopping Spread Spectrum - the same approach the Futaba, Hitec, and most of industry uses, which jumps frequencies approx every 20 milliseconds. JR/Spektrum use DSSS or Direct Sequence Spread Spectrum in the USAwhich locks onto 2 channels in the 2.4Ghz band, outside the USA I beleive JR also uses FHSS)

Airtronics has RX's currently on the market

FHSS-1 - 8ch, 7ch, 6ch, 5ch all full range. and aMicro 6ch (6gms) and micro 4ch (3gms) which have a limited range of approx 1200' for park flyers and indoor electrics

FHSS-3 - 10ch, 8ch and 6ch recievers.
