You don't need the AMA to start a flying field. You can do it on your own. You can start flying there today. Start telling your friends too. Have fun. Sounds like the perfect place ... and it's FREE.

I still own 40 acres flat farmland bordering 50 acres, all part of 100 acres that I attained, paid cash for, then financed for an RC Club to have a facility. Club still strong after 16 byears.
I have had to remove shooters (I'm Life NRA), dog runners, and several other groups that thought vacant land was theirs to use without any permission.
Some years ago before 2.4. there was a guy that pulled up on the 40 acres and started unloading an RC. Glad I was there and so around to where he was resulted in his departing the scene. He wanted nothing to do with a club. Guwess he wanted to be 'just close to a club'!!! [8D]
Not a good thought in their feeble minds. [:'(]

Having the landowners permission IMO is an absolute must. NO MATTER WHERE YOU FLY. Our models can and do land outside the designated LZ at times . Having permission to retrieve your model is a must. If nothing else it is the neighborly thing to do to have permission. Crop damage WILL occur when you retrieve your model. Often not very much and often the crop will recover from the damage. When you retrieve your model from a corn or bean field you are messing with somebodies livelihood. It's kind of like somebody tramping through your garden wrecking your tomatoes.
Bottom line IMO.... Talk to all whom your actions may impact, no matter how small that impact may have. I'm guessing everybody will have a positive attitude about your proposal.

Good luck with your quest for a flying site!!
