You cannot start a Forum, perhaps a moderator can. I suggest you start a new thread in the Clubhouse forum.

You cannot start a new Forum, but you can go to a Forum and post a new thread by clicking the yellow "Start a new thread" button above and to the left of the second horizontal blue line. Just like the "Reply to Thread" here.

Ultimately the FAA sends those analyses to Congress to try to get enough money to pay for another year of safety in our airspace. But many of those people are only interested in how they can get kickbacks by privatizing the FAA. It takes a lot of data and analysis to get their attention.

Maybe, but the LAR method looks vastly superior.

No. Maybe somebody else can explain "for example" to you.

How would their commercial pursuits you believe exist affect their tax exempt status?
Probably not at all....they get the tax exempt status despite exclusion of non-members from whatever services they provide. The standards for non-profit status are apparently pretty low. Said standards are seldom challenged..........but they might be by competing entities providing similar services that don't enjoy the tax exemption. On that note, there are hundreds of schools offering UAS operation training. Still, any challenges would only crop up if AMA were effectively out-drawing them in the marketplace. Fat chance.

In other words you can't start a Forum, but you can start your own thread within the forum. So for example this THREAD was started by someone after they came to the AMA Forum. The only folks able to create a Forum are the admins. Folks like you or I can start threads within the forum.

Maybe. I guess there isn't an actual example.

I hope you're not implying some in this forum don't have a chance. Last count there was one.

Thanks, lurking here every day to keep up with the thread but mainly posting on RCG with all the other drone heads

Been flying a DJI Inspire recently and its pretty amazing what it can do - fully autonomous missions out to several miles - with live HD video on the iPad the entire flight.

Definitely not "Traditional RC Modelling" but fun in its own way. (also way too easy to program it to automatically do 'bad things')

His flight does not seem to be in accordance with the AMA safety code. Unless there was a spotter not shown on the video.

From the AMA safety code.

"9. The pilot of an RC model aircraft shall:
(a) Maintain control during the entire flight, maintaining visual contact without enhancement other than by corrective lenses prescribed for the pilot.
(b) Fly using the assistance of a camera or First-Person View (FPV) only in accordance with the procedures outlined in AMA Document #550.
(c) Fly using the assistance of autopilot or stabilization system only in accordance with the procedures outlined in AMA Document #560."
