From the AMA safety code.

"9. The pilot of an RC model aircraft shall:
(a) Maintain control during the entire flight, maintaining visual contact without enhancement other than by corrective lenses prescribed for the pilot.
(b) Fly using the assistance of a camera or First-Person View (FPV) only in accordance with the procedures outlined in AMA Document #550.
(c) Fly using the assistance of autopilot or stabilization system only in accordance with the procedures outlined in AMA Document #560."
Right...so again, where was he flying? Might want to figure that piece out before throwing out terms like illegal.

Porcia buddy ... Don't U know that it is only Illegal if U get caught. Just ask any Senator Congressman or president or an one in office, except but maybe the Dog Catcher. I ain't really sure bout him either.

A couple of times know we have had an FPV wing and an FPV Quad fly over our Field in the presence of Full Scale too. Yesterday I went over tho the School where they were flying. Four young guys (Late 20 early 30') I say Really friendly and knowledgeable. Did not ask if they had been flying over by us a couple days ago. One guy asked , after he say my care load of planes, if I wanted to fly his flying wing. I declined ....Man was thet thing fast turned in a dime and gave ya 24 and a half cents change right know. Speaking of LOS we could see them so they must of been able to see their planes over us too. OH the distance from where stand to our flight line is just over 3570'.So guess they were legal. The one thing that bothered me a little is how close they flew to them selvs and their selves.Full Tilt, Head High Rolling at well over 90 with in I'd say 10 to 15 Feet. To Close for me.

Come on guys next time U R at your field stop a minute. Take your Cell Phone and Stand on your flight line and take a picture starting at your sun shade going CCW every 45 degrees or so. If possible go to Goggle and frae your Field, Copy the URL and Paste it in the description. If U have a web site post a URL to it too. Then post them to "Where Do U Fly? thread at least when RCU get's the Posting of Pictures fixed.

LoL...so true. We had a DJI Phantom come over our field last week unannounced. Went right over the senior home we're behind, then cruised right over our parking areas, then the pits, then right over the field. Someone noticed it and looked at our heli/quad field, but it was empty. It loitered for a minute, then left. One of our guys tried to follow it in his car but lost it.

Rob has be one of the safest pilots I've ever seen online. Can't claim to have seen every video of his, but given his job as a corp jet pilot I can't imagine him doing anything that would jeopardize that.

Not illegal at all. I have a commercial UAV Licence, and unrestricted BVLOS approval - I am flying in Australia - AMA code and FAA rules are totally irrelevant here - This was 100% legal.

Granted both videos are not very exciting - the first is draining batteries in preparation for air travel and the second video was the first day of testing the Litchi App.

It actually was close to an airport also - but not in the flight path - we have different rules here - not above 400 ft if within 3 miles of an airport and no requirement to tell anybody.

Thanks, I watched every sunset on a recent West Coast work trip with the drones charged and ready to go. They were all nice but nothing worth a video.

On the last day I had discharged all the batteries, packed the drones away and Mother Nature decided to laugh at me with this...

That is stunning. Every now and then we get a similar sunset like that, usually after a storm.

The best sunsets are in Phoenix. The smog from LA has moved so far inland it makes for beautiful sunsets. most of the year.

If I hadn't seen one or two in the Northeast I would swear the pic was put through some type of filter. Stunning.

Default An update on a not so bright Drone Pilot...going from bad to worse.

http://www.cbsnews.com/news/dad-son-...rowing-drones/

This kid is bad news at every turn. Always has an excuse, and always blames someone else. It's not him, it's the girl who he flew over that's at fault. It wasn't his fault when he ran from the cops and then got arrested for fighting with them. It's not his fault he got expelled from the college he went to (and claimed that a professor that helped him build his 9mm drone). Can't wait to see the excuse he comes up with after his recent arrest for a vile and stomach turning charge. He and his father are the last people I would want fighting the FAA.

I would have thought the same if I had not seen it with my own eyes. Back to that location on Sunday for two weeks - hopefully we get another like and I'll have the drones ready.

I disagree. There is no evidence he flew over the girl, at least in that article. The police would not charge him so I assume he did not or not a crime at the time. The college expelled him specifically because of this drone. I do not believe there was any law against this at the time. And it is easy to push porn into someone's cell phone without their permission. This sounds like the state overstepping their powers to me.
