But it is a "Notice to Airmen", not notice to drunken fed worker. I know the FAA and NTSB suport this and certianly their needs to be something in place. Certainly their is a goverment right to set up restricted airspace. But to say this is all clear to the layman, well it clearly is not.

To the layman this is a toy, and that document does not apply to them.

I think maybe he advocates hermitry. He will crawl into a cave and everbody else should do the same.

He may be joking?

So the DJI solution is a software upgrade that only a tiny % of the owners will use? There are whole forums and threads dedicated to the DJI Flyaway problem.

This is the best explanation I have seen of why it happens. Bottom line the electronics are not reliable enough to fly over people and structures. the AMA FPV rules have it right.

This is about commercial operations. I believe the AMA is only about recreational use of model airplanes and FPV, and possibly recreational use of autonomous UAV. . Or are they trying to get into the commercial operations now?

Yes, but RC airplanes were never marketed to fly over people and structures................ Multi-rotor camera equipped airframes are marketed with the intent to fly in close association with people or structures,

AMA IS all about recreational flying. Not a thought about commercial flying.

These things we fly are dangerous. But so is driving to the field. I saw another one crash in the parking lot for no reason at all Except radio failur. I won't mention that it had a Spectrum radio and an AR610 receiver though.

It looked to me like you may need to be licensed to operate them period. Recreational or not. Just like your car

So we've agreed then that we need a stronger government and FAA presence in our hobby to stop the drones, and that the trend towards socialism is the worst thing since HobbyKing customer support, so it needs to be stopped?

Now I'm confused!

Guess I will just get back to my CL models. boiling it all down, I always found them more fun anyway.

Instead of RC scale, I will just enter CL combat.
