Why don't you suck it up and quit whining for others to pay for you. Save a McDonald's meal a couple nights and have ramen noodles. It will cover the cost. I for one hope they go up. They need to. People will complain just like the quiet rule at Nall and say they won't go because of it. Well guess what. A few less will go a long ways.

You got a point... If there are less people at the flying field I can fly more... Never thought about it like that. Thanks! I hope the dues triple... Now if we can get gas up to about ten dollars a gallon, that would help too... Get the riff-raff off the road so I can roll on...
Carden flying guy, have you ever considered you are barking up the wrong tree???? LOL this stuff just cracks me up!!!

Oh, and another thing...and just another reason this stuff has me lmao... My dog's name is Carden... Seriously. Not joking about that... And there is a very good reason why... He has a flying suit that says "fly dog" on it....the more I think about all this, the funnier it gets...

just found out their atm card no longer works according to them. Also gas stolen from cars becomes a real problem.

In my area when gas goes up real high anytime you go to the gas station there will be a bunch of people there out of gas begging you buy them enough gas to get home because they

Same here... Look, I guess people are just taking things way to serious in here... If AMA needs to raise their dues, they will...I have never said they shouldn't...probably don't need to...but what the hey...whatever...the consequences will be whatever they are...intended or unintended... In the grand scheme of things not a big deal...

Really shouldn't be a problem...but guess what? Modelers are cheap ask tards sometimes... Not sure why that is...I've seen guys drive across town to save two dollars...never giving a thought that it took $5 of extra gas...

The sad part is all of the money being spent ( and will be spent ) dealing with the non AMA idiots with "drones" that never will become AMA members anyway. IMO this is a losing battle as you can't regulate stupid. Were pissing in the wind on this one.
It's not about the dues increase to me as much as how it's being spent.

Well, at least now they probably will budget more money to play around with government relations... even if the bottom line shrinks. Dues increases are going to be more frequent I predict... maybe every other year ...That sounds acceptable...the spin has been initiated IMO

From the January EC meeting minutes:
• Dues: In July 2014 Council talked about a dues increase and why it was needed. In 1997 dues were $48; since then there has been one dues increase (2003). The Academy has spent over one million dollars just on government relations; this is expected to continue and the need for resources is huge.
Sessions explained how the government measures inflation. Using the inflation adjustments from 1997, this would put our dues at $70.92; if we adjusted from 2003, the dues would be $74.44. (This goes through 2014, a dues increase would not take effect until 2016.) It was recommended that dues be increased to $75; it has been 13 years since dues were reviewed. Sessions believes this subject should be put on a cycle and reviewed every few years. In 2003 membership numbers were about 172,000; we are 175,000 now. When the dues change was made in 2003 AMA lost 5,000 members. Today, AMA is viewed as an advocate for the modeler, much more along the lines of government relations and education; the value statement AMA has is much stronger.

Back in 1997, my annual salary was a mere $55,000.00
A 67.68% increase in that $55,000.00 salary would mean that my current annual salary should be $170,183.25
I suppose many of us have enjoyed a 67.68% salary increase since 1997, huh?
So, am I the only poor sap that is making less than I did nearly 30 years ago, or are there many others that fell far short of a 67.68% salary increase since 1997?
We pay enough, and don't get what we pay for.
Better yet, maybe someone can just make a 1 million dollar donation to the AMA and call it a day.
