Airport relationships?
How many RC clubs/individuals have a relationship with, or are acknowledged by, their local public use airport(s)?
Background:
AC 91-57 of June 1981 states; When flying aircraft within 3 miles of an airport, notify the airport operator, or when an air traffic facility is located at the airport, notify the control tower, or flight service station.
PL-112-95 SEC 336 of Feb, 2012 states; (a) (5) when flown within 5 miles of an airport, the operator of the aircraft provides the airport operator and the airport air traffic control tower (when an air traffic facility is located at the airport) with prior notice of the operation (model aircraft operators flying from a permanent location within 5 miles of an airport should establish a mutually-agreed upon operating procedure with the airport operator and the airport air traffic control tower (when an air traffic facility is located at the airport)).
FAA interpretation of PL-112-95 SEC 336 of Feb, 2012 states; the statute sets a requirement for model aircraft operating within 5 miles of an airport to notify the airport operator and control tower, where applicable, prior to operating. If the model aircraft operator provides notice of forthcoming operations which are then not authorized by air traffic or objected to by the airport operator, the FAA expects the model aircraft operator will not conduct the proposed flights
AMA Safety code of Jan, 2014 states; Model aircraft pilots will: Not fly higher than approximately 400 feet above ground level within three (3) miles of an airport without notifying the airport operator.

I updated my list. Because of the distance I assume they did not see the need to mention Model aircraft in the airport remarks section.

There is another cow pasture runway (Goose Hunt) that seems to be close to us. But we don't need to establish a relationship with them, as I read the FAA specs on airport size.

Frank, I'm a little confused as to exactly what you are asking for. The reason for my confusion, in the greater Oklahoma City Metro Area there are 9 RC flying fields 7 of them fall within the five statute mile radius of 9 regional or private airports. Two of the clubs each fall under the trafic areas of two separate airports.
I know of only two clubs that have written to one airport; Wiley Post Airport (PWA) advising them of their locations and operations. Neither club has received any acknowledgement back from the airport. Adding to your list:

Frank, I'm a little confused as to exactly what you are asking for. The reason for my confusion, in the greater Oklahoma City Metro Area there are 9 RC flying fields 7 of them fall within the five statute mile radius of 9 regional or private airports. Two of the clubs each fall under the trafic areas of two separate airports.

In a recent discussion it was mentioned that a model aircraft field was marked on an aviation sectional map. I was curious and looked up the nearby airports in the airport directory http://www.airnav.com/airports/ and found the model aircraft activity mentioned in the additional remarks section. I did a little research and found several more airports that mentioned modeling activity. I thought it might be interesting to put together an informal list of airport relationships. To me notifying nearby airports of modeling activity location is a good thing. I would not be too concerned if acknowledgement is returned or not. Only if there were an issue would further contact be necessary.
I did find one that I’m very curious about. Looking up GDM Gardner, Ma the remarks say “NO RADIO A/C ON AND IN VCTNY OF A/P”. I’d be very interested in the back story to why that is there If anyone in that area knows.
I’ll add PWA to the list. Thanks for your input.

Up until recently I had a very good relationship with a local airport which allowed me to fly my jets there. I was up there last weekend to fly and went up to the operator of the FBO as asked about flying for a while. He said that recently the local FAA rep had been by the airport and there was a young guy flying RC there. The FAA rep asked about "why" the RC flier was being allowed to fly, and "how long" this had been allowed to go on, and the FBO operator said he told him "about 10 years". The FAA guy got mad, went to his car and came back with a document that said all RC flying at any airport was not allowed, and none would be conducted over 400' high within 5 miles of any airport. Sadly, he could not let me fly. he and I both agreed that it was not illegal, and it would not harm anything since there is little to no traffic at this airport, but he is obliged to do as they say since he likely gets funds from the government. So looks like another opportunity has been wasted, since this was a great location, with a good man who ran the airport, who loved RC. I did not bring it up at all to the FBO operator, but the first thing he tells me was "ya'll have nobody to blame but those drones"....I swear, and he said just like this, but he is from south TN. He told me this and claims that the FAA said this has been a "law" since 2012.

It is obvious that the FAA are not on the same page. Some over extend their influence and are misinterpreting the guidelines, even confusing them with "law", but they exert enough influence to scare the local airport directors into preventing us to use the facilities, despite an excellent record and the use of handheld radios to watch for traffic.

KCNO, Chino. We have a great working relationship with the Tower Manager.
Our current president has managed to get the field marked on nav charts. The field is usually on ATIS recording for the airport as well.

Thought maybe, just maybe you knew something about that.... Of course it doesn't take a genius to figure out how THEY would respond.., absolutely worthless to suggest asking them. Sort of like asking the current administration about the state of affairs of our country.... Just more BS...

Ask for Tim the airport manager.
I have lived here for 25 years and did not know about the ban on RC aviation within the city limits until I paid them a visit a couple months ago. I was there to complain about a rash epidemic of low flying full scale pilots who have been making a point of flying over my air field at 200 feet or less.

I simply thought you may have some knowledge in which to further enlighten us about your interjection of the city's ban and possibly why the city has reacted in the way they have. Not at all sure now exactly why you told us about your city's ban on RC in the first place...you must have had some reason...maybe not...either way, its more your concern and if that's the way you like it, so be it...But as you pointed out...you were clueless...and seem content to stay that way... carry on...sorry I asked....

Was it Abernathy Field (GZS) to your NE? GZS currently states "INTMT RADIO CONTROLLED ACFT OPERATIONS AFTERNOONS & WEEKENDS."
