Really depends on which one and how you're flying it.

Either way they are over .5 lbs so the pilot/owner needs to be registered.

Horse crap. If you never fly it FPV you do not need a spotter. Spotters are required ANYTIME YOU FLY FPV. And that means with a multirotor, a P51, a trainer or a glider. It's using FPV that requires using a spotter.

So the big bad FAA posted a workbook with two worksheets: "Hobbyist" an "Non Hobbyist", each with four columns of data:

Country
State / Province / Region
City
Postal Code
Number of Registrations

Horse crap yourself. That drone is flown FPV mode. Hardly ever anything but.

And what do you base that on? Where does it say they're going to (a) fully integrate the database, and (b) that they're going to allow "anybody can look up?"

Eventually they will have them on this site or a similar site.

I thought, gee, what a absolute waste of time and band width. Are they really serious or just that inept? I can get more detailed information by just looking for someone on Google. If they were going to integrate into the aircraft inquire database, then just do it, don't crap around and insult us, and law enforcement, with a stupid spreadsheet.

For anyone interested in such things I pulled a sum of all the registrations and it came out to 461433

So less than half a million and a bit over double AMA membership numbers

That number would seem to dispute the notion that there are "none of these out there flying". It's a safe bet there there are at least 50% more than that out there that are not registered as well.

Not really sure how much useful information can be gained from the spreadsheet, but if they were forced to release it due to a public records request then a spreadsheet export would be the fastest way to do. it. Surprised the web interface isn't available yet.

I thought lookup was only going to be based on FAA ID number, but I haven't see anywhere where it states this isn't happening. Several other government databases are fully searchable so I hope they do it as it does not contain any SPI data.
