O/k...let's go with the new low number of $47.00 for the sake of discussion. 1000 new members, 47.00 per member. Did Giant scale or turbines bring these amount in? How about Helis? Traditional/other RC?

What's the downside again?

divided by the almost 1000 members gives us approx 47.00 per.

now where they came up with the 72.33 per member number is anybody's guess. possible did not subtract the 23,000 cost. because i can not see anyone paying AMA more than going rate for memberships to hand out, i do not think that bb paid 70,376 plus 23,000 to be able to give away the memberships.(about 90.00 per member)
The AMA told me Best Buy was paying US$50 per sign up. That was in Dec of last year.

who is the AMA that told you this? A district VP, a specific person, or a comment on their site? Whoever told you the number appears to have been wrong, based on the EC notes? Were they privy to that discussion and program?

Wonder if the rest of us paying members can get a $25 discount on our dues on our next renewal?

Why, for what? If you want a discount, sign up to be a CD. Better yet, try this program:

http://www.modelaircraft.org/members...n3flyfree.aspx

You even have a leg up on most of us, you work in a hobby shop and are front facing with prospective new members all the time. Looks like plenty of folks were able to do this in 2015. At least 5 people did it in TX. You asked earlier where all those new members were...there's at least 15 in the TX area!

Wonder how many folks know that AMA program is out there, along with getting a discount for being a CD.

ok, that makes sense, I can see the separation of the issues.

I guess I look at the information that was presented at the EC meeting, and the notes of that discussion to give me the data as far as the results of the program. It appears Matt has another source that is giving him information as well, so in that regard it makes it that much more difficult to understand.

Perhaps more info will come at the next meeting.

That's a pathetic turn out with all things considered. It's not the program STEM is a great idea but poorly executed in most instances. I along with several other club members were asked to "advise" at a LHS ( local high school) wanting to start a program. They had all the equipment anyone could ask for but the bureaucracy involved killed it. Never ending road blocks by the paper pushers overcame those with the good intentions of starting the program, I'm sure a few others had much better success than we did I our case it was a exercise in futility.
Really as shame.

Mike .

Why are you mixing up your numbers? It was 900 not 1000 new members.

So this is pathetic! So now we might as well not try. This event was not what is pathetic.

What bureaucracy killed it? Who were the paper pushers? These folks didn't seem to have any problems, perhaps you and the club can reach out to these folks and have them explain how to make it work?

It's interesting logic isn't it. It's the same logic that says if I can't see an actual new AMA member from the BB program, they don't really exist. Or that no MR pilot would ever join the AMA. Or that all these MR events across the country aren't really happening, or aren't successful because they don't have huge spectator numbers.

See a pattern?

Another club that seemed to have no issues. Really interested to hear about who put up the never ending road blocks. Don't understand why that wasn't made clear the first time.

if you do the math, like i did,
there were 972 new members at the time of the council meeting. the exec vp rounded it to 1000 in his report so that is the number i also referenced.
